A brainchild of songwriter Mitchell Johnson, Calathea has been years in the making. having performed as both vocalist and guitarist in several bands including Fathom All the Animals, Johnson finally decided to begin working on a solo project. One he could do with no one else in the way. One with complete musical freedom. It was then that Calathea was born. Delving deep into the indie-pop headspace, the artist focused on recording at his home studio and utilizing both digital and natural instrumentation, he found his sound. The songs have been away for Johnson to wear his heart on his sleeve.
