Flower Church is the brainchild of songwriter Alex Lockheart, who at the beginning simply had some acoustic songs she had put together and felt there could be more to it all. Having experience writing solo material along with working on hip-hop tracks in the past, she knew she wanted to create something new and different.
After working on a line up for a full band, Lockheart ended upbringing in bassist Kevin Then for the record and performed drums, guitars, and vocals herself. Teaching herself to play drums in only 3 months, she began focusing on recording. Soon enough there were enough songs to release a full-length LP, and Pretend was finally born.
