91314-Album_Art_With the release of his full length album Why Am I Keeping This To Myself?, songwriter Jacob Keplinger brings an alternative and electronic edge to indie rock. Lush with electro synths, layered guitar hooks, and a catchy melodies all around, the record reaches anthemic feels at times. Most importantly, the album never lose touch with the emotional platform great songs are built from.

The first single “You + Me”, is an up beat folk pop song that gives an uplifting feeling. Laced with clapping, acoustic instrumentation, and strong vocals, the song separates itself from other songs on the album.

“The name is pronounced ‘You Plus Me’ and stylized as ‘You + Me’ because the song isn’t about a person that is already with another person. By saying ‘You and Me’, it implies that the two people are already together. When saying ‘You Plus Me’, it implies that the two people have yet to be added together. The song is about the period of time before a relationship where you are just getting ready to add the two people together.” explains the song writer of his single.

Although the single speaks volumes for the album, to get a good understanding of where Jacob is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety. The songs are diverse from on and other but there is a glue that holds it all togehter and creates something of a concept record all in all.

“If the album were pictured as a timeline of a relationship, ‘You + Me’ serves as the first time the two people connect before becoming one. It’s virtually the first track you hear when you play the record, and I wanted my listeners to be welcomed into the album with something familiar.” says Jacob of the album itself.

Jacob Keplinger began writing in 2012 and a few years later, recording started. He records, mixes and masters the material in his home studio and over time has learned to navigate through the ropes to bring his music to a professional level.

The songwriter has performed with bands like Ryanhood, a national act out or Arizona, and is planning shows with them again along with upcoming August shows where he is to play the entire album front to back.

The Why Am I Keeping This To Myself? album is available physically, and for digital download on most major outlets now.
