Labelled as one of Classic Rock’s Ones to Watch for 2025, alt-rock band, Dirty Blonde released the new single ‘Adore Me?’. Featured on their upcoming Looking for Trouble EP, ‘Adore Me?’ cements Dirty Blonde’s status as rising heavyweights in their genre. Their new EP will be released on 17th April following the band’s sold-out UK tour for Independent Venue Week.
Manchester’s Dirty Blonde are a blonde-bombshell alt-rock duo, fronted by the powerhouse pairing of Ailis Mackay (vocals, guitar, drums) and Hayley Tait (guitar, backing vocals). Since forming in January 2023, they’ve shared the stage with acts such as Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols, Louis Tomlinson, The Lottery Winners, Cast, The Subways, and The K’s. Their debut EP, Favourite Record quickly grabbed the attention of tastemakers at BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, landing spots on major Spotify playlists, and scoring two video features on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. BBC Radio 1 also labelled the band “One of the most exciting bands to come through Future Alternative. A two-piece with the world at their feet.”
When writing ‘Adore Me’, both members of Dirty Blonde were simultaneously going through breakups. Inspired lyrically by Catfish & The Bottlemen’s ‘7’, they flipped CATB’s lyric of ‘I’d love you but I need another year alone’ to ‘I know you said you needed space, but I don’t think you thought about it’, the track was then recorded in Crystal Ship in Sheffield with the band describing it as a “sound engineer’s dream”. They explain, “They have the rarest RCA collection. Ailis recorded her vocals in just 10 minutes and recorded them acapella – an amazing energy in those studios.”
“‘Adore Me?’ is probably the most honest we’ve ever been when writing a song. It was written at a time when we had both gone through breakups at a similar time and had a lot of shared experiences from the breakups. We were basically angry and upset and threw it into a song. It was the quickest we’ve ever written a song and it was done over Whatsapp in a couple of voice notes.”

Writing the EP was more than just a creative process—it was cathartic, offering a rare moment of reflection.
