Funky Chemist has dropped their new single titled ‘City to City’ from their upcoming album ‘Groove Generator’. This is the type of music I long for. Those jazz-infused groove-based jam bands that now where to set the beat in the pocket and let their creativity flow. Think band on the run that ran to the jazz fest and lit up the stage. This is that type of groove. For all of you non-musical types (and why would you be here if you were) think featured track on the Ocean’s Eleven soundtrack with something played during the heist setup scene. That’s the groove you will get. That musical setup to something splendid and wonderful yet original with that subtle adrenaline feeling.

About Funky Chemist

Funky Chemist is an organ trio that fuses funky grooves with heavy guitar and adds a strand of psychedelic rock into what would otherwise be categorized as a jazz act. The music is most influenced by Stanton Moore Trio, Soulive, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and The Meters.

The band features Jeno Somlai on Hammond Organ, Daniel Nathan on Guitar (and Flute), and Andy Blochowiak on Drums. Jeno has toured North America with various acts, and can currently be seen with The Donna Woodall Group, La Chazz (Chicago Jazz Fest), Abraxas, Dan Dance, Wade Fernandez, Steve Cohen, and Luis Diaz. Daniel currently tours with the Guns N’ Roses tribute Nightrain International and has recently performed in Ecuador, Guatemala, Southwest Asia, and the Dominican Republic. Andy has a Bachelor’s of Music Degree from UW-Milwaukee, performs frequently at corporate gigs, and works in music education.

Studio PicFunky Chemist has recently had notable performances at Summerfest, Bay View Jazz Fest, and has just finished recording their first studio release. The band recorded with Ric Probst at Tanner-Monagle and the eight-track effort clocks in at just under 38 minutes. Gary Tanin at Daystorm mastered the album and the music will be available online 3/27/20.
