The new effort from Nuneaton, U.K. five piece Speaking In Shadows, titled “Anchor”,  is proof positive on how much the band has grown since their last album, “The Lies We Lead” in 2014. The first thing that caught my ears were the very melodic, layered guitars and solid rhythm. From the opening track “Capsized” especially the hook is immense. My personal favorite, however, is “Figure Of Eighty”. This song is a monster and is, in a way, it’s own polar opposite in that it’s simultaneously “balladic” and thunderous. Sometimes at once. Only a master songwriter can pull this off in a positive way. Well done!

“The Anchor” will be released October 19th on iTunes, Amazon, & Spotify. Pre-order packages available at http://speakinginshadows.bigcartel.com.

Tracks:

  1. Capsized
  2. Scatter
