Unfamiliar Things has released their new single titled ‘Most People’. Pop with enthusiasm and songwriting with snark is a sweet combination for a song that demands repeated listens.

The pairing of Matt Levy’s vocal styling with a set of chords and melody meant for the stage gives us an energy we need in an uncertain year ahead. Beautifully crafted and elegantly produced, ‘Most People’ does not sound like most songs. It sounds like originality.

About Unfamiliar Things

Unfamiliar Things is an American alternative band based in Los Angeles, California. The “unfamiliar” vocals of frontman Matt Levy can mellow the soul in the band’s paired back acoustic tracks and sit powerfully atop the sound of a full band. Now Unfamiliar Things are kicking off 2023 with a new indie-rock offering ‘Most People’.

A mischievous melody meets thoughtful lyricism on this effervescent single that is tinged with influences from the likes of Death Cab For Cutie and Vampire Weekend. In addition to its energy and warmth, ‘Most People’ is also an expression of honesty and self-reflection.

When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Matt shared: “I haven’t heard many whimsical melodies and upbeat songs about being lost and finding your path. ‘Most People’ fills that void.”

The intimately crafted track was recorded between Matt’s bedroom, a cabin in Big Bear and in Robby Krieger’s (founding member of The Doors) studio.

‘Most People’ follows on from two acoustic releases in the fall of 2022 and precedes their full debut LP which is set for release in the Spring of 2023.
