Up and coming indie-pop quartet King No-One have revealed the eye-catching video for their new single ‘Alcatraz’, out now.
Flamboyant and fun, the new video is a perfect complement to the vibrant tones and uplifting pop charm of the track. The band’s energy and modern 80’s style radiates throughout as they sing, dance and perform through an explosion of color in this infectious slice of indie-pop pleasure.
The band spoke to Dork about the video and explained that “’Alcatraz’ is about the warped vision of your past deluding your perception of the present. Not being able to find someone because you are dwelling on a nostalgic and unrealistic past. For the video, we wanted to get a sad and all too common narrative, across in a fun and engaging manner”.
The dynamic Yorkshire four-piece have been capturing the hearts of music fans across the country. Clash Magazine raved about the “fizzing hooks, buoyant energy, and tons of charm” that ‘Alcatraz’ delivers. It follows their previous single ‘Halo’, a powerful dancefloor anthem with a huge hooky chorus.
Their ever-growing support has seen the band championed by various radio DJs including Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music), Dermot O’Leary (BBC Radio 2), Dan O’Connell (Radio X) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music), as well as seeing them secure a spot on BBC Radio 1’s Best of BBC Introducing List 2015 with their track ‘Constellations’.
National TV and online tastemakers have also picked up on the band with their music videos gaining exposure on the likes of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and previous singles ‘Foreign Tongue’, ‘Constellations’ and ‘Stay Close’ hitting top 3 spots on Hype Machine.
The band has made a big impression on the live circuit, blowing away crowds with their electric live performances. They secured the support slot for Embrace on two sold-out UK Academy tours as well as clocking up memorable appearances at festivals such as Reading and Leeds, The Great Escape (BBC Introducing Showcase), Live At Leeds, Dot-To-Dot and a headlining Club NME show at the iconic KOKO in Camden.
