Spooky Mansion have today released their new album titled ‘What About You?’. A solid set of Americana and AM era radio pop and rock, ‘What About You?’ is twelve tracks of personality wrapped up and waiting for you behind that play button.

Grayson Converse, the mind behind the music, shows a solid mix and mash of mentors, mindsets, and memories with an album that reflects his new marriage, love of life lived, learned, and loved, all wrapped up in a relatable way evoking an era when all singers were songwriters and all songwriters were poets.

About Spooky Mansion & ‘What About You?’

Hailing from the Bay Area and helmed by singer/songwriter Grayson Converse, Spooky Mansion will release their new album What About You? on October 31. An earnest, love-led record cast in the mores of Americana and early ‘70s rock & roll, the album is strapped with jangly guitar and classic sonic influences spanning Kurt Vile, The Rolling Stones and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Converse bares it all on introspective title track “What About You?”, a one-of-a-kind classic rock lovesong reminiscing on a nude walk on the beach with his now-wife in their early courting days & the comfort and joy that came with the awe-struck realization that he had found his perfect match. Converse shares, “‘What About You?’ Is a reflection of my life through stories being told to my wife as we walk down the beach. Stories of my ma, pa and the traveling I’ve done. This was when we first met and after each long involved story I’d ask her ‘What About You?’ Sometimes you don’t have a chance to reflect on your own life until someone is there that you trust and loves you enough to listen. We’re all just a collection of stories, so take the time to think about them and find someone to tell them to.”

The most pastoral offering in the Spooky Mansion catalog, the then recently married Converse set out to evoke the joy of falling in love and starting a simpler life in the country, having a farm and exploring in the mountains – all through his singular sonic sensibility. Strapped with acoustic guitars, pianos and electric guitars and intricate percussion, his bandmates Rob Mills, Marty Reising and Braden Lyle were able to capture that enthusiastic, upbeat fun.

Spooky Mansion combines nostalgic rock & roll energy with hints of country, jazz, blues and rock. The sun soaked, rock & roll record emulates the spirit of the band’s widely revered live show which has drawn a close knit community and commands fans to their feet. They have shared stages with notable acts such as Natalia LaFourcade, The Moss and Cafe Tacuba and will hit the road once again this fall with several headline appearances and select support dates with Stop Light Observations.
