Oba has released their new video for the track titled ‘Could Have’. The best way to describe this track upon that initial listen is that it’s an instinct disguised as a sound wrapped inside an emotion. Atmospheric around the edges yet designed to be held tight and kept inside. Beautifully crafted and well delivered with a minimal set of instrumentation that is left wide open for the individual listen to make it their own.

With hints of Radiohead and dashed of Keane thrown in for subtle influence, the originality scale is off the chart and taken to the next level with enough left for the imagination and more left to wait for the next release.

About Oba

When you’ve been playing and writing music with the same fellas for over a decade, you start to know each other better than you might have wanted to in the first place. The guys first crossed paths in high school, but it wasn’t until after graduation that they began jamming together seriously. During their college years, they all lived together, playing shows, writing songs, and, honestly, just hanging out. There was probably more hanging out than anything else, but that’s what built the foundation of the band’s bond.

It was a bond forged through playing to empty rooms at odd hours, writing songs that now make us cringe, and meeting some of the most interesting, unstable, and artistic people along the way. Today, under the name Oba, we are a family who creates music that we genuinely enjoy listening to and hope that people who need a couple songs to daydream to, can find comfort in our songs.

The name is a nod to the band’s beloved Obaajan (grandma in Japanese), who always made sushi and other snacks for long road trips to gigs across Canada
