Steve Grady launched his single “Go Away and Miss Me” earlier this month and never one to rest on his laurels – he returns now with a 7-track EP for release on Friday April 17, entitled “A Year’s Gone By”.
The 7-track EP is a melancholy journey, part-time heart-wrenching, part-time heart-warming, but full-time earnest and truthful. Steve Grady has poured out everything on this EP – the production, the songs, the arrangements, are all handled with the utmost care. This is Steve Grady at his career finest to date.
Grady is launching his EP with a National co-headline tour to be announced soon alongside longtime friend and collaborator Dan Parsons., but is launching the EP in Brisbane with a special show at Junk Bar on the day of release – Friday April 17 at The Junk Bar in Ashgrove.
For Grady the process is just as important as the product. Hiring a one hundred year old community hall in Kallista in regional Victoria, Grady bunkered down will fellow acoustic troubadour Dan Parsons to record his latest EP. “For me it’s important to utilise my surroundings in my recordings…the atmosphere and tone of the setting is significant…this was my most DIY and organic approach to an album…I’m pleased with the vintage sound that has eventuated from recording to tape”.
Grady’s previous work has garnered praise from all over – Noel Mengel proclaimed him as “one of the best singer songwriter albums you’ll hear this year” and even Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson covered Grady’s painful ditty, ‘She waits ’til I’m Asleep’, featured on their ‘Wreck and Ruin’ duet album (2012).
