Beauty In Chaos have just premiered their new video for their rendition of the Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros classic ‘Get Down Moses’, from the BIC two-song EP (embed below).

I consider this a massive departure from everything BIC has done in the past. I’ve always said this was a consistently evolving project ever taking those steps up that ladder of evolution. This signifies the last step and the destruction of the ladder. It can go anywhere at this point with guessing and speculation completely out of the window. This is a different Beauty In Chaos from everything past. Not a new chapter, but a book.

Featuring The Sig Six Horns, BIC honor the reggae roots that Strummer solidified with a twist for the ’20s and a slight return to everything that made the original memorable. The guitars are brought more to the front with the horns and take the track into flight with fancy and fervor meant for the masses.

Michael Ciravolo is brought front and center with lead vocals which, to me, brings an entirely new signature sound to the project that I think should become a more permanent venture for the overall scope of the band. The vocals fit, evoking hints of Strummer and highlight the beat and rhythm in ways a guest vocalist couldn’t have done.

‘Get Down Moses’ isn’t a departure from form, its an eclipse of what was, and what could be.

About ‘Get Down Moses’

BIC’s curator, Michael Ciravolo, who also takes over as lead vocalist on both tracks from their current two song EP, explained.  “As with “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”, I felt a spiritual calling to do this particular song. I think Joe’s lyrics are certainly ‘timely’ and just as socially important as anything he ever did with The Clash.

As for this new video, Ciravolo adds, “We filmed this the day after we shot “God’s Gonna Cut you Down”, so it was nice to swing the pendulum to something a bit ‘lighter’.”  While this video absolutely looks like it was fun to shoot, Ciravolo clarified, “This shoot was certainly not meant to lessen the sting of Joe’s lyrical attack on governments, oppression and the Catholic church.  My ‘1977’ shirt, which I am sure Clash fans will notice is my personal tribute to Joe Strummer”.

The 2-song Digital EP is available at BIC’s On-Line Store & Bandcamp. Also on all Streaming Platforms.
