Ben Chace has today released his new single and video titled ‘Pure Economics’, from his upcoming debut EP ‘Homecooking’, due out in March 2026 via Capitane Records.

Some songs try to win you over. This one sounds more interested in telling the truth and letting you deal with it.

From the opening moments, the track settles into a laid back groove that only seems casual on the surface. The arrangement is patient and purposeful, letting the song unfold instead of forcing a hook down your throat. It feels lived in rather than polished, like it was built to last instead of built for clicks.

The vocal delivery carries a dry confidence that never tips into smugness. There is personality here, but it is understated, letting tone and timing do most of the work. The performance feels direct and unfiltered, as if the song is being shared rather than performed. That honesty makes the sharper moments land harder without sounding preachy.

Lyrically, the song digs into modern pressures and quiet frustrations with a clear-eyed perspective. It avoids big slogans or empty rebellion in favor of specifics that feel familiar in an uncomfortable way. The writing trusts the listener to connect the dots, which makes the impact stronger. Nothing is overexplained, and nothing feels accidental.

The production stays out of the way in the best sense. Every element has room to breathe, and nothing overstays its welcome. Instead of chasing drama or volume, the song relies on tension and release that feel natural and earned.

This is not a track that begs for attention. It lingers instead. You finish listening with a line stuck in your head or a thought you did not expect to have. That kind of staying power is rare and usually intentional.

About ‘Homecooking’

Driven by a steady, restrained arrangement, “Pure Economics” gives voice to a low-grade imbalance that settles in when systems begin to fail people rather than support them. Chace frames this tension with clarity rather than anger, observing a world where responsibility is endlessly deferred: “It’s not us, or our choices — it’s economics. Pure economics.” The result is a song that sits somewhere between vertigo and acceptance, mirroring the bureaucratic language that often masks deeper fractures.

The single continues Chace’s singular songwriting path, where image, story, and sound naturally intertwine. Raised in Providence, Rhode Island and now based in Paris, Chace first emerged as the frontman of New York band Bird Dog throughout the 2010s before moving into long-form music and documentary projects across Jamaica, Cuba, New Orleans, and Nashville.

“Pure Economics” also serves as a key moment in the lead-up to Chace’s debut EP Homecooking, due out March 2026. Co-produced by Nicolas Michaux and Ben Chace, the EP features Congolese guitarist Rodriguez Vangama and Belgian drummer Morgan Vigilante (Great Mountain Fire, Turner Cody), blending intimate songwriting with a quietly expansive, human feel.
