Brighton alt-rock trio Bones Ate Arfa, share the vibrant new single ‘Mushroom’, taken from the upcoming debut EP ‘Akimbo People’ (August 1st).

The new single ‘Mushroom’ showcases more of the band’s unique alt-rock musicality with an infectious sense of energy, driving distortion heavy riffs and catchy melodic vocals. Led by the urgent and deceptively catchy lead vocals, the track showcases the tight tendencies that permeate through the full EP.

Speaking about the single the band explained: “Mushroom is our final single before the release of the Akimbo People EP. It’s about moving on from relationships, long-standing arguments and just awkward situations altogether. It pinpoints a lot of the anxiety around the process of moving on and getting over said experiences, as sometimes they never fully feel like they go away, but sit there like a tattoo on your character.

The song grooves and flows quite uniquely to anything we’ve put out before with melodically ambiguous riffs and dangerously bouncy drums reminiscent of early Tigercub and Gorillaz.” Says Arfa (lead Vox & bass)

Bones (guitarist) also had something to say at the end of the song, “All I needed was a snack!”

Made up of Bones (guitar), 8 (drums), and Arfa (vocals & bass), the trio have made a significant mark on the UK’s southeastern gig circuit within a short period and continue to showcase what an exciting up and coming band they are.

Led by frontman Arfa (renowned for his collaborated with artists including Isaac Holman of Soft Play and Kate Nash), Bones Ate Arfa have built a reputation for their previously garnered significant attention with their gritty sound and dynamic live performances. Their robust social media presence, particularly on TikTok, has connected them with bands like Bad Nerves and solo artist LOU, earning recognition from acts such as Royal Blood and Tigercub. With early support from the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Earmilk, Total Rock and Amazing Radio (A-List) the band are set to head on a mammoth UK tour through august to support their debut EP release.
