Gabrielle Vaughn’s “Jaws” is a raw, emotional journey into the complexities of manipulation and vulnerability, blending rock, pop, and alternative influences. Known for her fearless approach to songwriting, Vaughnhas drawn critical praise for singles like “Lovestruck” and “Erase It,” featuring her music on TIDAL’s Pop Art playlist and premiering on Earmilk. As part of the female power-pop duo ElectraQueens, Gabrielle is also making waves in the digital space, with over 160,000 followers and nearly 5 million likes on TikTok.
She is releasing more music in the coming months, working with Grammy Award-winning producer Jesse Brock. She states, “I wrote this about a man who took advantage of me when I was a teenager. He was five years older and knew exactly what to say to make me feel special. He cut me off from my youth, dreams, family, and friends, promising me love and the world. So many people have said to me when sharing the song that they or someone in their lives has had this experience – which is very polarizing. Looking back, I understand now that even though I was manipulated, it’s okay to admit that it felt amazing at the time – because I was an innocent girl and didn’t know any better than to fall head over heels for someone who made me feel like I was their personal drug.
Grooming is a serious issue that affects many young people and often goes unrecognized and unspoken about. Through this song, I want to raise awareness about this painful reality and let others who have been through it know they are not alone in feeling manipulated and lost.”
