Wicked, wicked! The original General Levy is back! And not only is the UK legend back, but he’s unleashing an absolutely banging track in a brand new flavor, ripe for the festivals and party islands.
He’s spun like a windmill, now he’s dancing in his shoes. Another song to get the crowds going from the Incredible General Levy. The latest hit from The General is certainly going to be another classic. It captures and captivates, with a colorful and vibrant Cuban element which is reminiscent of Samba, summer parties and carefree days. The trumpet heralds the arrival of something very special. The baseline is deep, broad and upbeat throughout. Hear it, feel it and live it. Another hit song you will remember for a long time to come…
The General teamed up with Toni Toolz (production credits including Pharrell and Kelis) after meeting at Adobo Studios in London, and shortly after ‘Move’ was born. The track soon became the party animal it is when Toni Toolz joined Dave Robertson, under the Havantek moniker and the pair borrowed the infamous brass line from ‘Bolivar – Merengue’, faithfully laid down by yet another legend that needs absolutely no introduction: Matic Horns.
Nicely supplementing the lead release are two very different but equally massive remixes. First we have a fantastically wobbly thumper by Lempo, followed by a huge Grime remix from Cubanpakk absolutely packed full of UK flavor. Lempo, the man with the golden touch, regularly topping the DJ download store charts, delivers a deliciously wobbly toplined thumper. With his finger on the pulse, fresh from having remixed Snoop Dogg, working with Roland Clarke on big House hitters, and his own successful string of releases, he certainly brings the magic with him to this release. The Cubanpakk Grime remix is a banging, dark twist of grime and trap music with a heavy bassline and hard drums. General levy’s ragga vocals will have you wheeling up over and over again and will shut down any rave. An Essential addition to any grime set.
‘General Levy – Move (Initial Release) ‘ is out on Big Mix Up Records from the 19th of May, available from all major download stores and streaming services.
