Grizzly Coast has released their new video for the track titled ‘Two Balloons’ from their latest album ‘Staying Power’. Definitely filled with personality and that raw sense of true self, ‘Two Balloons’ delves into the world of beautiful unions and childlike views of when the world was a simpler place to live.

The music perfectly encapsulates the lyrics, with each word punctuated by a memorable chord progression and guitar that brings the feeling to life and that life to yours. While catchy, there is meaning behind the music and emotion with every motion. This song was birthed, raised, and sent on it’s way to you.

About ‘Staying Power’

Since 2020’s Party of One EP, Toronto’s Alannah Kavanagh has grown tremendously as an artist. When she started Grizzly Coast at 22, she was playing confessional songwriter-style acoustic shows. Over time, Alannah got a band and they were scrappy – playing gigs and music they thought were fun without overthinking things.

Recorded in just under two weeks, Alannah and her band meticulously explored ideas and made deliberate musical choices to create Grizzly Coast’s transformative debut album, Staying Power. By contrast, Party of One was recorded in one weekend without so much as creating a demo beforehand.

The result of bucking down and taking things more seriously? An album that Alannah is incredibly proud of, one that sounds exactly how she envisioned it. Staying Power is a testament to growth, commitment, and the power of trusting oneself in the face of life’s uncertainties.

“Two Balloons” was inspired by Alannah’s relationship with her husband, Kyle, and features a video of gorgeous footage shot at the couple’s wedding.

“The recording process at Dreamhouse Studios with Alexandre Bonenfant was incredibly rewarding. Alex fostered an exploratory environment that encouraged risk-taking and creativity. His support allowed us to transform spontaneous ideas into concrete musical elements, making the recording experience both dynamic and collaborative. We experimented extensively with guitars and keys, moving away from rigid plans and allowing the music to evolve organically.

This album has taught me the immense effort required to spin feelings into songs and release them into the world. It tells a story of boldly claiming the life you want to lead by staying true to your values and facing the unknown with courage.”

About Grizzly Coast

From the imaginative, yet highly-analytical mind of Alannah Kavanagh comes Grizzly Coast, the Toronto-based musical project blending dreamy indie rock instrumentation with introspective pop lyricism.

Starting in 2017, Grizzly Coast cut her teeth playing the Toronto solo acoustic circuit before expanding into a four-piece indie band in 2019. Nine months after the band’s inaugural live show, they were honored as part of Exclaim! Magazine’s Class of 2020, tearing up the stage in celebration of Canadian music.

Since kicking off the project, Grizzly Coast has been sharpening her songwriting, growing her loyal following, and tightening her live show in Toronto’s vibrant live music scene, supporting acts like Fast Romantics and Begonia. Her first single, Zuzu’s Petals, was featured as one of CBC’s top contenders for the 2019 Searchlight Competition. Her second, Half-Light Boy, had its mid-century-inspired music video go viral on Reddit’s R/ListentoThis.

2020 saw the culmination of years of songwriting with the release of her debut EP, Party of One. The EP successfully blended dreamy guitar rock sensibilities with Grizzly Coast’s trademark thoughtful lyricism, and was supported by Sirius XM while charting on college radio.
