Perennial Indie pop outfit Iglu & Hartly have been on a tear. It’s been 15 years since their worldwide hit ‘In This City’ saturated airwaves but the chronically shirtless group have since proved they are back in top form with successful releases throughout ’23 and ’24. Following up the widely acclaimed 2023 ‘Money” EP, which has enjoyed both US and UK radio play birthed their newest hit, ‘Swayze’, writer/singer/producer Jarvis Anderson serves us up a new EP, ‘Playboys Of The Western World’. A future indie pop classic only I&H can deliver, this EP features the bombastic new single of the same name. Also included is the previously released single ‘Music From The 80s’, which has garnered thousands of streams and was featured on KROQ in Los Angeles, 91 X in San Diego and Jim Gellatly’s Amazing Radio show in Scotland.

A highlight amongst this strong offering, ‘Playboys of the Western World’ is a tune that is equal parts Hall & Oates and Limp Bizkit. ‘Playboys’ oozes pure fun with a side of sassy social commentary. “I started to create a lighthearted song about a girl who doesn’t date ‘playboys’, but ended up diving a bit deeper into the’ Playboy’ architype through a modern lens,” says Anderson. “I ended up with an obituary of sorts for the playboys, who can no longer rely on the patriarchy of the past to justify rude and intrusive behavior toward the opposing sex.”

Indeed, In between the lively drum hits, a lush but airtight pop-rock production follows a story of an empowered female who is repelled by the displays of wealth and desperation of the playboys of the western world. Jarvis paints a picture of a NYC city street, lined with Playboys who catcall and flex to no avail.

Jarvis says of the track, “I am so stoked it will finally be free from the confines of my laptop hard-drive lol. I’ve had most of my production on this song stewing on the hard drive for years.” Jarvis put the finishing touches on ‘Playboys’ with producer Ethan Kaufman (Wild Party), mixer Will Brierre (The Killers, Imagine Dragons) and mastering engineer John Greenham (Billy Eilish).
