Kovak has today released their first single in almost ten years titled ‘Giving Up Love’. As if picking up right where they left off, there is an added freshness to the mix with that dance type of freshness meant for the masses and adding a certain type of moisture to the speakers that only a true set of artists can achieve.

Harking back to the days when good tracks were anthemic and better tracks were anthems, Kovak melds originality with that type of panache we long for but rarely encounter.

Summer is here to stay.

About Kovak & ‘Giving Up Love’

Giving Up Love is a tongue in cheek synth driven pop rocker that started life at the bands final recording sessions with dance producer Andy Gray back in 2012. The accompanying video sees the band in the boxing ring with Belgian born Annelies Van De Velde packing more than a punch as the lead singer spars against the true heavyweight contender- LOVE!

Formed by brothers Karl & Dazza Bray in the early 2000’s, Kovak ran their acclaimed Club Kovak night with DJ sets from Alex Patterson, The Go! Team, Youth & Kidda.

Kovak also became one of the first unsigned bands playlisted by the UK’s biggest station BBC Radio 2 with stand alone single Killer Boots. Follow up single Radiate was spun by Steve Wright and two successful forays to Canada’s NXNE festival followed along with a center page spread in The Times. Previously The band were championed at LA’s KROQ, and single & live favorite I Love The Dancefloor was initially played on BBC 6 Music. Remixes by Andy Hughes (The Orb) & Killing Jokes ‘Youth’ (Pink Floyd / The Verve) followed.

Kovak recorded their debut album Heroes & High Heels with original vocalist Abby Harman back In 2008. Andy Gray (Paul Oakenfold, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode) produced the album at his haunted mansion on the Isle Of Wight over six alcohol fueled weeks in a barn full of vintage synths, along with the go ahead from Jimi Destri (Blondie) to record their own disco popping version of the bands No1 single Atomic.

Production duties for the Modern Lovers album in 2014 saw BAFTA nominated Dom Beken (Nick Masons Saucerful Of Secrets) at the helm with Kovak being the first band to record at legendary producer Youth’s Space Mountain studio in Andalusia, Spain.

Having just supported 6 Music favorite Iraina Mancini the band have also opened for Block Party, Gomez, Toyah Wilcox & Republica. Kovaks single launch party on 20th July is at hometown venue The Prince Albert, with a DJ set from The Go! Teams Ian Parton.
