This R&B darling takes listeners on an emotional love story about breaking up, cheating, and holding on to whatever love you have left with her new single, showcasing her soothing melodies and her deep lyricism that can warm any heart. Produced by the legendary Don Was, this track brings out only the best in Lanita’s vocal range, with smooth acoustics that make for easy listening this holiday season.
The Memphis native also shared the release of the video for I Love You on her VEVO channel today. Shot in Malibu, California the stunning black and white video takes you through the passion of the song as two star crossed lovers walk through a lonely desolate beach in search of answers and each other.

Lanita Smith is a native of Fayetteville, NC. Lanita’s love of music began while sitting next to the piano player at church. From taking private lessons to learning “by ear”, she has worked hard through the years to perfect her skills as a pianist. Lanita later moved to Memphis, TN where she expanded her skill set to include the violin, saxophone, guitar, vocal performance, and songwriting. A graduate of Overton High School and the University of Memphis, she has been featured in the University of Memphis group Sound Fuzion as lead keyboardist.
In 2015, Lanita was hand picked by Don Was as the winner for Guitar Center’s Singer Songwriter 4. Since then she has worked with artists such as, Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, German American Idol judge Mandy Capistro, James Gadsen, and Don Was himself. Lanita is currently pursuing her dream of being a musician, artist, songwriter and composer in Los Angeles, CA. Her debut EP Listen To Your Heartbeat will be released in early 2016.
