Lord Elephant have today released their new single titled ‘Gigantia’, from their upcoming album ‘Ultra Soul’, dropping January 30th via Heavy Psych Sounds.
If I had to describe this in two words, it wouldn’t be ‘it’s good’, it would be ‘holy shit’. This is a sucker punch to the face via the pee hole and through the gut. Bits of Sabbath filtered through straight prog and doom metal, when doom metal felt original, with a jam band attitude and 70s metal gratitude, Lord Elephant feels the art and emotes the muse in ways most bands never learn and most idols have forgotten.
About ‘Ultra Soul’
On ‘Ultra Soul’, the crushing trio fuses their jam-packed blend of bluesy doom and heavy psychedelia into a potent acid-drenched concoction, channeling the spirits of the 70s, 90s, and 00s into a sound that is both towering and trip-inducing, while keeping it classy at all times. “Ultra Soul” finds Lord Elephant expanding their vision beyond the cages with their most soulful and captivating work to date. Fans of the likes of Earthless, Belzebong, Church of Misery or Black Bombaim should love this.
“Ultra Soul” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio 73, Ravenna, by Riccardo Pasini (Nero Di Marte, Ephel Duath, Ottone Pesante), with an artwork and layout by JJ Farfante ArtLab (Melvins, Mudhoney, Ufomammut). Stream the debut single Black River Blues!
About Lord Elephant
Since their formation in 2016, Italy’s Lord Elephant has been carefully brewing their potent sonic cocktail, and their 2022 debut album “Cosmic Awakening” (Heavy Psych Sounds) served it up just right: its thunderous dose of psychedelia, stoner, doom, and blues hit the scene hard to critical acclaim.
They’ve since earned their scars on the road, sharing the stage with heavyweights such as Eyehategod, Church Of Misery, Nebula or Bongzilla, and storming across Europe in the summer of ’23 with the one-and-only Weedeater. From the packed rooms of Desertfest to Rock In Bourlon and Heavy Psych Sound Fest, their live show is a true force of nature.
Their next mammoth step is imminent. In January 2025, Lord Elephant teamed up with renowned producer Riccardo “Paso” Pasini in Ravenna to lay down their second album. This new chapter captures a band locked in and levelling up, with a raw, intuitive connection that promises to push their sound into even heavier and more expansive territory.
