Ludacris will dazzle an expected capacity crowd at the 2016 Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB) Invitational Showcase. The marching band event of the year will be held January 30, 2016 in Atlanta. Get tickets HERE.
Talented student musicians from the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will once again provide a unique display of showmanship, high-energy music and carefully curated choreography during the 14th annual HBOB.
“It’s an honor to perform for these young, talented student musicians who have worked so hard to make it to the big stage, and for the HBCU community that supports them every step of the way,” said Ludacris. “Music is a force that connects and inspires young people all around the world.”
The 2016 lineup consists of new and familiar HBCUs: Alabama A&M University, Alcorn State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Jackson State University, Lincoln University (PA), Prairie View A&M University, South Carolina State University and Tennessee State University.
The eight bands were selected through a process that included online fan voting, as well as feedback from band directors, HBCU presidents and American Honda representatives. In addition to a $20,000 grant from Honda to support their music education programs, each participating HBCU will receive travel and accommodations to the Invitational Showcase in Atlanta.
“Honda Battle of the Bands is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that helps HBCU student musicians showcase their talent, represent their communities and universities, and discover their greatness, both on and off the field,” said Steve Morikawa, Vice President, Corporate Relations and Social Responsibility, American Honda. “Ludacris has supported HBOB for many years. His presence helps the students realize how far dreams, hard work and dedication can take them, and we’re happy to welcome him back to the HBOB stage.”
Group and individual tickets to the Invitational Showcase are going fast and available for purchase on the official HBOB website, starting at only $10. Fans can follow each band’s #RoadToTheHonda journey on official Honda Battle of the Bands social media channels and join the conversation using #HBOB.
