‘Lonely Part Of Me’ is a track that will mean something to anyone that listens to it. It found a personal spot for me after I pressed play. The lyrics are deep and meaningful in a way that finds a relationship with anyone.

About ‘Lonely Part of Me’
Bristol based soul and jazz vocalist Mary Mina will release her deeply personal new single, Lonely Part of Me, on Christmas Day, choosing the date intentionally as an offering, a gift to her listeners after more than a year of preparation.
The song was written following a vivid dream in which a woman with chestnut hair sang softly to Mary. At the time, Mary was navigating fresh grief after the sudden loss of her father while travelling to New York to perform at an industry showcase. Only later did she come to understand that the woman in the dream was her long-lost grandmother, a woman she never met because Mary’s father was adopted, and whose identity only came to light after his death.
Lonely Part of Me emerged from that period of grief, movement, and discovery. While in New York, Mary connected with newly discovered relatives through DNA genealogy and learned something that deeply moved her: her biological grandmother had also been a professional singer, performing regularly on the radio in the 1940s and travelling to America for her work.
Mary says “Learning that my grandmother was also a singer gave me the feeling that we were deeply connected across time, it brought a real sense of belonging through music.”
Although the song was written over a year ago, Mary chose not to rush its release. The process of losing her father, uncovering hidden family history, and integrating the emotional weight of the song meant that timing mattered deeply. “This song is an emotional release,” Mary explains. “I needed time to feel my way into sharing it. Releasing it on Christmas Day feels like a gift for my listeners of a song that is in many ways hard to let go of.”
Musically, Lonely Part of Me is a stripped-back, soulful ballad rooted in jazz phrasing and emotional restraint. Mary’s intimate vocal delivery allows space for vulnerability, stillness, and reflection, inviting listeners into a quiet moment of connection.
