Italy’s Mexican Standoff is delighted to announce the release of their Cheap Trick inspired song “Denver Omelette”.

“This our take on 80’s Glam Rock, less hair metal and more Cheap Trick style melodies. The chorus revolves around a stop and go that emphasizes its open melody.” says the band.

The cover track is featured on the band’s upcoming album “Raiders of the Dutch Rudder”, which will be released on October 4th, 2024 from Rockshots Records.

Showcasing their blend of classic rock energy, metal aggression and punk rebellion for a groovy musical experience, “Raiders of the Dutch Rudder” draws from metal, glam and punk, for a sound that is both fresh and familiar with lyrics ranging from imaginative storytelling to personal reflections.

Mexican Standoff was formed in Milan in 2014 by Fabrizio Giagoni, Gabriele Squillace, and Marco Scaramuzza. Fabrizio and Gabriele are veterans of the Milanese punk scene from the 90s, having played in various rock, hardcore, ska, and punk bands, gaining extensive live experience. Marco, from Friuli, plays bass in several metal bands from Udine. Their first release was the Santa Muerte EP, a collection of seven tracks on a USB drive (2014), followed by their debut album, The Great Cockblocking Experience, released on May 12, 2016.

To promote the album, the band performed at various venues, from small provincial bars to Arci clubs and rock venues. They also opened for American bands like The Pullmen, Adam Bomb, and Daikaiju, and participated in festivals such as PovoRock 2015 and Concrete Jungle Fest 2016. However, a year after the release of their debut album, the band disbanded, and the members went their separate ways: Fabri and Marco continued to play together, while Ga joined other bands.

It would take six years for them to reconnect, and their renewed enthusiasm and friendship led to the creation of their new album, Raiders of the Dutch Rudder, produced and distributed (both digitally and physically) by Rockshots Records. Their music blends Metal (Pantera, Down, Metallica, Blackstone Cherry, Black Sabbath), Glam (Steel Panther, Wasp, Hardcore Superstar, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi), Punk, and Rock.
