Paleblu has today released his new single titled ‘Stay Away’ via Red Lantern Records. Starting like a not-so-subtle announcement to an event that seems above us yet everyone’s invited, then going in to find yourself in the most suave and smooth jazz fusion dance club you’ve ever been in. That’s the vibe I get from ‘Stay Away’. Such a lush and vivid mix of instrumentation and songwriting to make something so original, interesting, yet accessible.
While the horns grab your attention, the guitar and rhythm hold onto Paleblu’s (Ryan Gonsalves) tight and jazz-fused vocals for dear life like he’s the only one who knows where to go. Brilliance in a single track.
About Paleblu
Paleblu, born Ryan Gonsalves, is a multi-disciplinary artist hailing from the quiet yet culturally rich neighborhood of Aldersbrook, East London. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant contrast of London’s urban sprawl and the serene parks of his hometown, Paleblu’s music is a reflection of these dualities—melding tranquil, introspective sounds with the restless energy of the city’s underground music scene. With over a decade of experience, Paleblu first made his mark as an MC at warehouse raves and iconic venues like Fabric and Printworks, cutting his teeth in London’s drum & bass and jungle movement. By the age of 21, he had hosted label nights for the likes of RAM Records and Hospital Records.
He has been presenting a monthly radio show on Reprezent Radio since 2016, hailing as the longest-running drum & bass and jungle DJ on the station. Aside from his staple show on Reprezent, he has also presented radio shows on networks including BBC Radio 1Xtra, Kool FM, and Balamii.
Paleblu’s genre-blurring style, combining indie and drum& bass influences, has led to the creation of a unique sound often referred to as “indie jungle.” He has released music with artists such as Emmavie and Idris Miles. His releases have garnered recognition across platforms, with airplay on BBC Radio 1 and placements on major Apple Music playlists. His work has also been remixed by Grammy-nominated duo Crate Classics, drum & bass heavyweight Mitekiss, and jungle-legend DJ Zinc.
Paleblu’s live performances are equally notable. He took to the Strummerville stage at Glastonbury 2024, where his set was followed by a secret set from Fred Again, marking a high point in his festival journey. He also played a DJ slot supporting Nia Archives in September 2024, further solidifying his place in the cutting-edge UK music scene.
