Rock trio Starting Early is concluding 2025 with a festive bang as they release their 4-track “Bethesda EP” at their headlining performance at Songbyrd located in Washington D.C. on December 19th.

After the release of their debut album Hello in 2023, Starting Early is back with a fresher than fiction sound.

Starting with the title track and lead off single, “Bethesda” leaves a feeling of yearning for a long-lost love and the familiar mindless ritual of time spent on the road to work and through everyday life. Declan’s passionate vocal performance paired with layered harmonies will pull the listener through the soundscapes created by synths and fantastic percussion.

The tracks “Summer Sun” and “Do As I Do” are brought to life by jazz trumpeter, Joseph Brotherton, who brings a lively and rich brass section that will make you want to roll your windows down and take in the fresh air. One track shares the story of a young couple enjoying their care-free summer nights, and the other narrates a cat and mouse chase of burglars attempting to escape the law in the middle of a bank heist. But both tracks will leave the listener impressed with Paul’s uppity drumming and Rory’s methodically planned guitar solos.

Last but certainly not least, “Angie Harmon (Motion to Dismiss)” animates an underlying tongue-in-cheek feud between two lawyers publicly disputing their love affair in an intellectual game of chess. The looped guitar and percussion create a groove sure to make you tap your foot with its catchy and playful melody.

There is no better stocking-stuffer or Kris Kringle gift to give to your loved ones than Starting Early’s Bethesda EP. All three members of the band are certain of that and hope to see you at their EP release at Songbyrd on December 19th.

About Starting Early

Starting Early are brothers Rory and Declan O’Donnell (vocals, guitars, and bass) with Paul Mosimann (drums, vocals).

Filed under the nebulous genre of indie-rock, Starting Early has a sound that is unpretentiously fresh. Cutting their teeth by studying Beatles harmonies and instrumentally recreating the sounds of acid rock legends Cream and Led Zeppelin, Starting Early injects a vintage vibe into their exciting and plucky songwriting.
