An anxious, angular alt-punk band from Manchester, England, The Empty Page do not write love songs. Instead, you’ll find subjects like bed rot, victim blaming, and the end of days set to hook-laden tunes layered over fuzzy riffs and the occasional urgent synth.
The Empty Page’s second album Imploding features 10 tracks that were recorded at Eve Studios Manchester and produced by the mysterious Morton Kong. It features the whole gamut of emotions that come with navigating today’s anxious, apocalyptic times.
Following their debut LP Unfolding which was recorded with Gggarth Richardson (RATM/Biffy Clyro/Skunk Anansie) in Vancouver Canada, the band released three 7-inch singles in 2019 including breakout track When The Cloud Explodes. WTCE was played by multiple DJs on BBC 6 Music, chosen by Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry from the BBC Introducing archives for airplay on BBC Radio 1 and spent months on Spotify’s Punk List alongside bands like Fontaines DC, Dream Wife and Sleaford Mods. It was followed by a double A-Side 7” You’re Tame and He’s Very Good At Swimming released on Punk Fox records.
The band has supported the likes of Desperate Journalist, Membranes, The Wildhearts, Remember Sports and The World Is A Beautiful Place… In August 2024, they will play Rebellion Festival (alongside the likes of Benefits, Stiff Little Fingers and Lydia Lunch), and Kendal Calling (Headlined by Noel Gallagher, The Streets and Paolo Nutini).
