The Rat Utopia Experiment’s new single “Leviathan”, is as lead singer Phi Lane explains, “The commander of envy. In a world where there is always someone that is more popular, smarter, or better-looking, the lyrics of innocent jealousy turn to resentment and rage, and the listener is left wondering how far it will go.”
Musically “Leviathan” is a riot grrrl rollercoaster and Evan, the band’s drummer, seems to be challenging the rest of the band to keep up. They certainly do, but it is a wild ride!

The band performed in SoundOff! 2024, the premier 21-and-under music showcase in the Pacific Northwest, has been the KISW 99.9 Loud and Local Band of The Week, while receiving airplay on KEXP and KISW, and is currently featured in a commercial for Puget Sound Energy. In 2025 the group started by playing Treefort Music Fest in Boise Idaho in March and to celebrate the release of their album No Hit Wonders. In May 2025 their new single Creature Comfort came out and in July the band played the prestigious Pioneer Square Fest! Their final release of 2025 is Leviathan.
