For K Camp, one of the top new hip-hop artists to hail from Atlanta, the only way is up–and Only Way Is Up is the title of his debut album, set for release on September 4, 2015. Featuring Snoop Dogg, T.I., French Montana, Jeremih, Yo Gotti, Fetty Wap, and Bun B., Only Way Is Up (Family Ties Entertainment/Interscope Records) follows on the success of its second single, “Comfortable,” an ultra-smooth track that blurs the lines between rap and R&B. Quickly moving up the charts at Urban radio (currently #15 and a #1 Add), the track is now available for digital download and streaming, as is Only Way Is Up which is available for physical pre-order on August 14.
After his breakthrough with the club anthem “Money Baby” featuring Kwony Cash, an Urban radio hit currently about to be certified gold, the fearlessly honest rapper known for his laidback flow climbed the ranks as one of hip-hop’s emerging stars with summer 2014’s gold-certified, #1 Urban radio, party smash “Cut Her Off” (Top 10 Billboard Rap) featuring 2 Chainz. “Lil Bit” also hit the Urban Top 10, prompting a remix by Chris Brown and T.I. K Camp was named to XXL’s 2015 Freshman Class, topped Twitter’s first Emerging Artists list, and was dubbed “a ‘Cut’ above the rest” by USA Today and one of Rolling Stone’s New Artists You Need to Know. To date on Vevo , the videos for “Money Baby” and “Cut Her Off” have scored more than 58 million and 53 million views, respectively.
“I’ve come a long way from making mixtapes in my mama’s basement to dropping my first album and now the Only Way Is Up,” says K Camp.
Born in Milwaukee but raised in Atlanta’s Northside, K Camp introduced himself to the city’s scene at open mic competitions alongside Waka Flocka Flame and other future stars. He emerged from the area’s rap arena in 2008 with the party jam “All Night,” a hit with the college crowd, and mixtapes and concerts built a strong fan base. He also wrote and sang the infectious hook for Mykko Montana’s 2012 club smash “Do It.” Landing a deal with Family Ties/Interscope in early 2014, his debut EP In Due Time that year spun off “Money Baby” and “Cut Her Off,” the latter later remixed by hip-hop heavyweights from T.I., Rick Ross, and Wiz Khalifa to YG and Lil Boosie.
Now K Camp rises to new heights with Only Way Is Up.
