Crisálida has today released their new album titled ‘Niños Dioses’. An album that clearly features hints from the past with a vision for the future, Crisálida takes an interesting turn within the prog-metal genre by stepping outside the box and mixing genres with a cinematic flair.

While clearly heavy and hard hitting, there is a sonic undertone that showcases melody and, at times, an angelic harmony that grabs the attention and shows that peace can mold from war.

The nine years it took to make this album paid off with an original set of tracks that transcend time and show the meticulous craftsmanship involved in a true passion project.

About ‘Niños Dioses’

‘Niños Dioses’ sees Crisálida creating an emotional journey through South American identity. Based on real experiences of kids that were chosen to be offered to the Incas’ deities on a ritual called Capacocha at the Llullaillaco volcano (on the border between Argentina and Chile) and the El Plomo hill in Chile, these songs are fictionalized stories told from the point of view of these children and their families, who are facing the certainty of death and despair.

Blending haunting and yet heavy sonics into a modern progressive metal album, “Niños Dioses” is an unparalleled record that connects ancient traditions with contemporary craft. Conceived over nine years and with multiple lineup changes, Crisálida pieced together the album’s nine tracks with remote assistance from Daniel Cardoso (Anathema), who not only produced, mixed and mastered the album, but also played and recorded the drums, adding his own individual stamp to Crisálida’s musical vision. The artwork, designed by Chilean agency Medu1a in close collaboration with the band, also shows this connection between the past and the present with a unique perspective.
