Vanarin has today released their new single titled ‘My Circle’ from their upcoming album, out soon via Dischi Sotterranei. Part pop with bits of rock and experimentation, ‘My Circle’ is a song that sparks as much curiosity as it does interest and inspiration. Like a jazz project turned on it’s head and thrown into multiple genres as it falls, Vanarin twist the box they reside outside of and suck on the juice that squeezes out just to show everyone it can be done, and done with style.
While you listen to ‘My Circle’, you can’t help but wonder what else is out there from these artists. Is it the same? Is it similar? Definitely not and most likely a solid no. But it is original. And, it is right here.
About ‘My Circle’
The track, fully in the pop vein already explored by the other singles, is composed of an explosive electronic beat on which are grafted a sixties-flavored bass line and an enveloping drumming, creating a sinuous progression that is impossible to resist. Completing the picture is the vocal line on the verge between contemporary r’n’b and jazzy harmonic tones: we dare anyone not to sway to the rhythm of this concentrate of pure good vibes. Regarding the textual component, the song embraces a minimalist and direct writing style, which perfectly matches the mood of the instrumental. As the band narrates, “My Circle” describes the struggle to embrace technological and behavioural change in society, polluting the thinking and interactions once had with friends and family”.
If we had not revealed their origins, for compositional quality and sound refinement the quartet consisting of David Paysden, Marco Sciacqua, Massimo Mantovani and Marco Brena would seem to come straight out of the Australian psychedelic scene along with bands like Tame Impala, Pond and Mildlife. While waiting for the release of their third long-distance record, all that remains is to deceive the wait by allowing yourself to be carried away by the irresistible groove of this new single and the other five published so far.
