Minorcan has today premiered his new video for the track ‘Nightmare Rider’ from their upcoming album ‘Rock Alone’ dropping February 14th.
Almost feeling like a modern day protest song for the self and against the personal negative, traces of Bob Dylan clash with retrospective and introverted hybrids of guitar and electronica, Minorcan selves into the id and the self with the mind of a musician and the honesty of a poet.
Distinctly originaly and quasi sarcastic, Minorcan is a fresh voice in a tired world.
About ‘Nightmare Rider’
To be a person, at times, can seem as though we are waiting for the worst to happen, living with the anxiety and fear our nightmares will become reality. The song, Nightmare Rider, is a reminder to myself to embrace the fear and anxiety, live with their presence, and ride the lucid nightmare. Ultimately, boiled down to its essence, my nightmare is to be without the ones I love, and I have to remind myself I’m not alone with this fear. We are communal beings and the thought of living without one another, separated, is incredibly terrifying. Home is a place we can all share, home is the heartbeat.
About Minorcan
Minorcan stands distinct in presence, character, rock ‘n’ roll spirit and creates songs that come from an intimate heart, embracing the world and all within. These are songs bred in the aligning differences of intuition and instinct, music that merges impassioned energy with creative guile.
Minorcan is a basement arena rock band currently based in Asheville, NC. Having already released music under his own name in the early 2000s on Bi-Fi Records and Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records, Ryan Anderson founded Minorcan in 2010, naming it in reference to the swampy, coastal area of North Florida where he was originally born and raised. With a full line-up, Minorcan has self-released a trio of albums; each reveling in their organic embrace of indie rock and alt pop. Across those well-received releases and numerous keenly welcomed ear virulent singles, Anderson and his band equally draw on roots rock and punk to weave a generously individual sound.
With a rich reputation for dynamic live shows Minorcan has more recently seen Anderson as a one-person rock n roll tour-de-force, earning suggestions that he is giving the best performances of his 20+ year career. This organic energy has similarly fueled his songwriting and music as his forthcoming new album, Rock Alone testifies.
Rock Alone is set to be self-released on vinyl in February 2025 featuring eight new songs. To be teased by a host of singles such as the upcoming “Scorpio Sting.” the album revels in a rich palette of creative fertility around a heart courted by instinct, devilment and the kaleidoscope of love.
