It’s that time of the year again to cuddle up on the couch with your loved one, let go of what’s gone, be grateful for what remains and look forward to what is coming. Eelke Ankersmit’s single ‘December’ fits perfecly to that mood and leaves no-one untouched, telling a story of heartache and the road to adulthood, with a brilliant addition of slide guitar.
Eelke Ankersmit is known as the former frontman of band The Rag Trade. After an album with unanimously positive reviews, live-performances on Dutch national radio as well as several festival gigs, It is now time to continue his journey on his own. He finished his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with an A+ and recently he won the Dutch pop song competition for singer-songwriters and (semi)acoustic acts, ‘Mooie Noten 2016’, focusing on composition, lyrics and musical presentation.
December is the second single of his debut EP ‘Old Friend’. First single Happiness was featured on Dutch national radio, got airplay from Scotland to Luxemburg and was picked up by Spotify Spain.
Eelke Ankersmit already has plenty of new tracks in the making, his next EP is scheduled for spring 2017. In the meantime, here’s ‘December’. It is being released under new TCBYML sub-label BERT, dedicated to young musical talent. BERT is exciting, challenging, new, enterprising, a feeling, a friend, full of idealism, adventurous and honest. BERT was launched this august and was created especially for Dutch artists and bands.
