Nigerian Canadian artist Davy Sage is kicking off 2017 with his latest single “Celebrate” off his upcoming EP. A blend of R&B, Dance and Afro Pop, the song inspires celebration of life and success with that special person who always has your back.
Born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa, Sage did not have a lot of opportunities to pursue music, which meant working hard and staying positive to get noticed. “It influenced my music greatly because where I came from, we didn’t have much, but we always appreciated the little that we had,” reflects Sage. “I make music that brings good vibes and inspires others to appreciate life and the people around them.”
At the age of 13, Sage began writing poetry, while his love for R&B artists such as Akon, Wyclef Jean, Fela Kuti and Mary J. Blige lead to turning those poems into songs. A move to Canada in 2010 landed him in Regina, Saskatchewan where the R&B scene is small but supportive with many opportunities for live shows to grow his fan base. Sage released his first EP Waiting For You in 2016 with his first music video “High,” directed by Humphrey Elenwa.
“Celebrate” was written by Sage and produced by Prince Banks. The music video is being directed by Elenwa and will be released in February.
