Shadows of a Silhouette – No Matter Where I Go

Shadows of a Silhouette - No Matter Where I Go
Shadows of a Silhouette - No Matter Where I Go

Shadows of a Silhouette have just premiered their new single titled ‘No Matter Where I Go’, dropping tomorrow, from their upcoming debut LP ‘For Those That Know’. The band is also set to headline Rough Trade, Nottingham, UK, on Saturday, June 14th (tickets HERE).

Like walking the edge of a freshly sharpened razor blade, this is a song that cuts deep and penetrates all the vitals. A dirty anthem of rebellious rock and raucous rhythm and rhyme meant for the stadium from a band stylized for any playlist for the cool kids, ‘No Matter Where I Go’ feels timeless in an age of throwaway songs and forgettable artists.

The guitars start the track with an angry charm and set the tone. But that tone is full of color. A lot is going on in every verse and chorus. While never letting up, the song lets you in, and that is the real talent of this band. As you feel the power, you also take in the vulnerability. The cavalcade of emotion is transparent and reasons with the music to create a glorious and vast soundscape for all to behold and none to deny.

About ‘No Matter Where I Go’

Driven by a gutsy guitar riff and propelled by unrelenting rhythm, ‘No Matter Where I Go’ wastes no time. There’s a sense of urgency here, a stripped-down intensity that feels immediate and unfiltered. That’s no accident. According to lead guitarist Reece Carter, the song was salvaged from an old voice memo recorded in 2021. “I found this 30-second audio of me and Nay [Nathan Brown] jamming the first verse – it was just sitting there,” he explains. “It never materialised into anything with the band at the time, but I just loved how raw and to the point the riff was and thought that the lyrics were class. I knew it was the perfect tune to go on the debut LP.”

The track might have ended up on the cutting-room floor if not for Carter’s persistence. After the first day of recording, he recalls cornering the rest of the band at the studio – “I was rambling on for ages to Nay (Nathan) and Tyler [Henderson] about how we had to make this song. They wanted to hold it for album two or release it later, but I wouldn’t drop it until it got made.”

Frontman Nathan Brown delivers one of his most compelling vocal performances yet, wrapping sharp melodic lines around lyrics that stemmed from what he describes as “nothing short of a flash of inspiration – the sort of thing that seems to appear from nowhere.” Reece had called him in with the rediscovered riff, and it sparked something immediately. “As usual, my mind wandered far from wherever I was standing – drawn, I’d like to think, by the simple, defiant nature of the riff itself,” Brown recalls.

What followed was a vivid narrative set in the American desert, imagined through the lens of incarceration and fleeting freedom. “It begins with an escaped convict in a stolen prison van, having just smashed through the gates in a desperate sprint for freedom,” Brown explains. “But in a place where there’s nowhere to hide – and no real way to survive – his escape seems doomed from the start. After he crashes in a haze of adrenaline, he faces a choice: brave the wilderness, risking death in the labyrinth of desert canyons, and maybe die a free man; or return to the road and savour what little freedom he’s managed to snatch. Either way, he’ll serve his time in hell, or back behind bars.”

The single was recorded at Liverpool’s iconic Motor Museum Studio, a creative haven for legendary UK bands including Arctic Monkeys and The Lathums. With Al Groves at the production helm, the band captured the grit and immediacy of their sound in full force. Groves, known for his work with Bring Me the Horizon and Cast, brought a punchy, analogue sensibility to the track, harnessing the band’s live-wire energy while giving the mix a crisp, modern finish.

    About Shadows of a Silhouette

Formed in the heart of Derbyshire, Shadows of a Silhouette channel the restless spirit of the Midlands into a sound that feels at once familiar and unshakably their own. With Brown, Carter, William Scott on bass, and Tyler Henderson on drums, the four-piece blend the lo-fi immediacy of early 2000s garage rock with the lyrical depth and tension of modern indie. Touchstones like The White Stripes, The Strokes, and early Kings of Leon can be heard in the DNA of their music, but their identity is unmistakably theirs – born of shared experience, local grit, and an instinct for connection.

Their debut singles ‘Tempest’ and ‘Outside the Fade’ showcased two sides of their sonic palette: expansive and anthemic on one hand, brooding and introspective on the other. ‘No Matter Where I Go’ completes the trio with a rough-edged punch to the chest – a reminder of how visceral the band can be when stripped down to its core elements.

Shadows of a Silhouette spent much of 2024 on the road for their debut UK tour, bringing their feverish live set to new audiences across the country. That momentum continues into 2025, with headline shows at Rough Trade already lined up and more dates on the horizon. Their sold-out appearances at venues like The Bodega and Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden have proven their ability to pack out rooms and leave a lasting impression.

With over 230,000 Spotify streams and growing recognition from outlets like BBC Introducing East Midlands, Derby Telegraph, and RGM, Shadows of a Silhouette are poised for their breakout. ‘No Matter Where I Go’ isn’t just another release – it’s a snapshot of a band doubling down on its identity, refining its voice, and refusing to compromise.

This is the sound of a band pushing forward – gritty, immediate, and totally their own. The debut album is coming. And if this single is anything to go by, it’s going to hit hard.

Chris Staples – Two Carat Diamond + Tour Dates

Chris Staples - Two Carat Diamond + Tour Dates
Chris Staples - Two Carat Diamond + Tour Dates

When American singer-songwriter Chris Staples settled into the quiet rhythm of Richmond, VA—where deer graze through backyards and rabbits dart across early morning sidewalks—he was granted a small gift: stillness. In a career that has stretched from Florida to Washington with nearly 500 performances across 12 countries and witnessed the release of 7 studio albums, Staples hasn’t had the kind of domestic ease and opportunity to reflect on more than the immediate past. But in 2023, he was afforded time for deeper, longer looks backward. It was in these quiet moments that Don’t Worry began to take shape.

Writing more for this record than any of his others, Chris draws from a wide archive of memory: small towns, long drives, quiet anecdotes from strangers—moments once considered mundane now hum with new meaning. The songs never overstay their welcome— each enters, encapsulates the idea, and moves on before the moment closes in. The arrangements are equally unhurried, allowing space for fingerpicked guitar lines, hushed harmonies, understated piano melodies, and textures provided by a pedal steel guitar or warm synth. Chris is giving us the same gift he received.

Across its ten songs, Don’t Worry travels decades and miles while staying deeply grounded in the human moments that define life. In a matter of seconds, we move from New York to Texas, from the precipice of some monumental moment to something quieter, more ordinary. The songs never insist whether it’s the past or present, Staples having these moments of clarity, but that’s not what’s important here.

The sprawling expansiveness of these songs offers themes of regret, personal growth, emotional revision, and small celebrations—not as grand declarations but as passing thoughts, treated with the soft touch we’ve come to expect from Staples’ songwriting. We’re beneficiaries of what is his best collection of songs to date. This is as much a record about the process of its creation as it is the themes it covers. It’s a reflection of stillness.

Don’t Worry was recorded and produced in a small studio behind his house in Richmond. Bringing in friends from across state lines like Kyle Crane (on drums), Alan Parker (whose pedal steel holds us close across several of the record’s songs), Daniel Walker (providing piano, most notably for the record’s clearest moment of autobiography in “Talk About Your Day”), and Kylie Dailey (whose harmony on the title track reminds us that we’re not in this alone), this is a collective effort and small reminder that despite the chaos of the world, we are persisting in the small, still moments of everyday life.

Staples has long been a chronicler of small human moments. That is even more evident in these songs. Don’t Worry is deeply felt and intentionally paced—a collection shaped by memory’s blur as much as its sharpness. At its heart, the album offers what its title promises: a gentle nudge toward ease, delivered with the clarity that only distance can bring.

It leans in close, speaking gently. A postcard from a younger self, a letter you forgot you wrote, the echo of a conversation you had in your youth. It’s a quiet affirmation stitched together from fragments, the kind of record that doesn’t ask for attention so much as it stays with you after the fact, whispering: it’s okay. You’re okay. Don’t worry. Keep going.

    Alison Goldfrapp - Find Xanadu

Alison Goldfrapp has today released her new single titled ‘Find Xanadu’ from her upcoming album ‘Flux’, dropping on August 15th via A.G. Records.

As a celebration of starting her own label, what better way than to show you a glimpse of the artist behind the entrepreneur. Synth-pop around the edges with an emotional core, ‘Find Xanadu’ is a feeling of summer in Majorca, or a cruise on the Mediterranean. Just enough beat to prolong the party, yet enough poetic license to enthral the thinkers on the floor.

Colorfully crafted and poetically written, ‘Finding Xanadu’ is a soundtrack for the independence in the indie artist.

    About Alison Goldfrapp

“Find Xanadu” is a platinum-plated blast of synth-pop euphoria that invites the listener to join Alison on a cosmic odyssey to a sci-fi utopia. Fizzing with energy and innovation, the song captures the magic of escapism and the allure of the unknown. Co-produced by Alison, Swedish songwriter Stefan Storm (Sound Of Arrows), and Richard X, the release marks an exciting chapter for Alison as she embarks on her journey as an independent label owner with A.G. Records.

“If you’re lucky enough to have the option, owning your masters feels like a no-brainer these days. While being a solo independent artist comes with its own set of challenges, it truly suits me and has given me and the people I work with a sense of empowerment and invigoration for this album.”
    Alison Goldfrapp

Alison’s dedicated approach as pop inquisitor has firmly situated her as the rare leftfield artist who the mainstream has embraced without diluting one iota of her individuality. Goldfrapp scaled the charts, with multi-platinum album sales, unforgettable Glastonbury performances, multiple Brit and Grammy nominations, an Ivor Novello for “Strict Machine” as well as the Ivor’s Inspiration Award in 2021.

The momentum towards her journey into solo music was solidified back in 2021, when she collaborated with Röyksopp on two tracks for their seventh album “Profound Mysteries”, culminating in the brightly shimmering track “Impossible”. 2023’s debut solo album ‘The Love Invention’ was unmistakably the work of Alison Goldfrapp as a pop auteur, a dazzling showcase of her matured musicianship and her relentless curiosity for the new. Alison’s psychotropic world was brought to vivid life through both an audio and visual landscape. She most recently collaborated with Purple Disco Machine on their dazzling single “Dream Machine”.

Shawn Matthew – Work To The Beat

Shawn Matthew - Work To The Beat
Shawn Matthew - Work To The Beat

‘Work to the Beat’ is a hot take on bass house. It slams together punchy New Orleans hip hop vocals and dirty dubstep wubs and stabs that will leave you with permanent bass face. It explodes with energy from the first beat, and when you think it can’t go any harder, it catches you off-guard with a filthy trap breakdown.

    About Shawn Matthew

Shawn Matthew has surprised the EDM scene by proving that Midwest America is hiding some of the hottest talent. He is playing out the underdog fairy tale that fans dream about. A middle-aged white dude who spent a lifetime tinkering with producing music and casual djing while unable to escape the comfort of a traditionally successful career as a statistician.

Fate decided it was his time to step forward when a near-death experience led to uncertainty about how much longer

he would have to leave his legacy as an artist. He abandoned his career, spent the nest egg to lock up for 6 months mentoring under some of the best producers in the world, then came out on the other side churning out the hits he spent years holding back.

His style is bass house with a razor wire edge. A longtime house DJ, he has evolved to lean into his influences of dubstep and hip hop. His production and dj set are crafted with a unique blend of surgical precision and heavy emphasis on improvisation (which stems from years spent as a guitarist in a local rock band).

Beyond music, he is widely revered as an expert in process engineering and statistics, winning awards for helping shape industries such as finance, oil & gas, and manufacturing. He left that behind to scale up operations for a globally viral business in beauty, and after laying low for many years, finally put his music production in front of a quickly growing audience.

At a personal level, Shawn Matthew is equally as enigmatic as his music. His relentless drive has brought him countless wild stories and near-death experiences around the world. When he’s at a party and not behind the decks, Shawn captivates people with quick-witted humor and is asked to retell his encounters. Shawn grounds himself as a loving husband and father, which gives him the stability and reason to be a stand-up guy both on and off stage.

    Portland – Lay Me Down

    Portland - Lay Me Down
    Portland - Lay Me Down

Portland has today released their new single titled ‘Lay Me Down’ from their upcoming album, dropping later this year. A prelude to a rebirth, maybe even a reinvention, of what is to come from their upcoming gig at The Waiting Room in London on June 9th, Portland drops a peek at what is yet to come with a new track that feels fresh and sounds stellar.

After a lengthy and tough sabbatical for singer and guitarist Jente Pironet due to serious health reasons (read below), Portland returns with a magnificent new chapter to a never-ending story with a lush and new soundtrack.

‘Lay Me Down’ feels as it conveys. Tough on the outside yet still gentle and heartfelt at the core. A gorgeous soundscape feels engulfing around the chorus and guiding within the verses. This is a song that you can get lost in, and love the feeling.

About Portland & ‘Lay Me Down’

In all fairness, it’s a miracle Portland releases new music today. To call the past few years in the life of singer and guitarist Jente Pironet turbulent is to downplay the truth. The years between the debut album ‘Your Colours Will Stain’ (2019) and the latest release ‘Departures’ (2023) were particularly intense.

The singles ‘Pouring Rain’ and ‘Killer’s Mind’ propelled the band to stardom in their homeland. Fully embraced by leading alternative music station Studio Brussel, the band sold out multiple tours and was welcomed several times on the stages of Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop.

However, a few days after the glorious show at Rock Werchter 2023, a leaden verdict followed: a severe brain tumour with, in the worst scenario, a year to go. Jente’s world stopped turning abruptly. Plans were postponed (cancelling proved unbearable and a step too far), and rehearsals and shows gave way to doctor’s visits and treatments.

Instead of hanging his head, Jente clenched his fists and embarked on a long and exhausting rehabilitation journey. In early 2024, the skies slowly began to clear: he received the MIA (Belgian Music Industry Award) for ‘Alternative’ and, under strict medical supervision, was once again allowed to take to the stages of many sold-out concert halls. And look — nearly two years later, Portland’s third album is almost ready.

‘Lay Me Down’ rings in a fresh start for Portland. It is the sound of someone who went through the eye of the needle, of someone who has had to learn to take a few punches and, as a result, has risen back up with gusto and focus. The single is the prelude to a new album to be released later this year.

Swimming Bell – 95 At Night

Swimming Bell - 95 At Night
Swimming Bell - 95 At Night

Swimming Bell, a.k.a. Katie Schottland, has today released her new single titled ’95 At Night’ from her upcoming EP ‘Somnia’ dropping on May 16th via Perpetual Doom.

Indie folk as a breath of fresh air. ’95 At Night’ is a cool breeze in the morning, letting you know today will be good. An homage to home and every memory you have that makes you feel little again, ’95 At Night’ gives that 70s AM radio nostalgic style of music and adds a bit of postmodern and smooth groove that takes it well into this century. Unassuming as much as it is brilliant, the track takes little effort to become memorable, as good music tends to do.

About Swimming Bell & ’95 At Night’

Swimming Bell, Katie Schottland’s project, returns with Somnia, a mesmerizing five-song EP produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Kurt Vile, Cat Power). Set for release on May 16 via Perpetual Doom, Somnia invites listeners into an ethereal sonic realm—an underwater dreamworld where melodies drift effortlessly and rhythms pulse like ocean currents.

Schottland, now based in LA, envisioned Somnia as an escape from the weight of reality. Against an increasingly tense world, she sought to create a space where listeners could feel suspended, floating between wakefulness and dreams. Collaborating with Schnapf, she embraced a more percussive approach, allowing textures and rhythms to guide the listener through shimmering soundscapes. Each track unfolds like a dream – buoyant, weightless, yet deeply immersive.

“I wanted this EP to feel like sinking into water, where everything is softened and suspended,” says Schottland. “Given all the stress and tension in the world, I wanted to make a feeling of escape – something hypnotic and transportive. Rob and I explored percussive layers in a way that felt both grounding and dreamy, creating movement within.”

With its captivating blend of organic instrumentation and airy production, Somnia marks a new chapter for Swimming Bell, further establishing Schottland as a singular voice in modern indie-folk.

Schottland offers some additional context for the EP’s second single, “95 at Night”:

“‘95 at Night ’is a memory of life before I moved to California—a song that carries the people and places from that time with me, even as my world has changed.”

    Reli – Ask For Help

The visual begins with Reli sitting at a piano onstage, performing to an empty audience. As the video progresses, people begin to fill in the seats, and the singer’s voice grows in power. Directed by Brandon Bernath, with the assistance of Jesse Keel (PA), Sam Windell (drone operator), Krish Thakkar (VFX), and Thomas Clementi (lighting technician), “Ask For Help” is the artist’s way of reaching all those who have thought of seeking mental care at some point, but have been held back, either by their internal fears or an external factor.

Reli describes the video as “a reflection on the journey to sobriety and the inner struggle of admitting you can’t do it alone.” Recorded at the Bonita Center for the Arts, the artist and her team worked with theatre manager Melissa Stone to utilize the venue space for the music video. Most importantly, Reli wants listeners to walk away from the record with one invaluable lesson: the ability to always start anew. “There is a quiet courage in letting go, in opening up, in daring to begin again,” she explains.

Reli is a talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. With themes of mental health and personal growth as the through-line in all of her music, she extends this idea to her own life by practicing maintaining a balance between her work and mental well-being. Having 12 years of experience under her belt, Reli has come to learn that taking care of her mind is just as important for the creative process, especially as someone who writes, produces, and performs all her music. She has had several collaborations with various musicians, giving her well-known hard-hitting ballads some fresh perspectives. Her latest track, “Same Old Things”, was championed by outlets like Tinnitist, Zone Nights, and Divine Magazine.

Various Artists – Heart Of Gold Volume 1

Various Artists - Heart Of Gold Volume 1
Various Artists - Heart Of Gold Volume 1

Artists including Fiona Apple, Brandi Carlile, The Doobie Brothers, Eddie Vedder, Mumford & Sons, and more have released their tribute to Neil Young titled ‘Heart Of Gold Volume 1’ via Cinema Music Group.

To be honest, being a Gen Xr, I never really thought much about the music of Neil Young. To me, his career started with ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’. That pre-grunge sound of gritty guitars laid with chords and chords of rebel dirt. I now stand corrected. I remember the bulk of these songs through raiding my dad’s record collection, but, collected here and reinterpreted via different artists of different genres with careers spanning decades themselves, I never really took in the diversity and wide-ranging soundscapes of Neil Young’s talent and songwriting capabilities.

As vast as Neil’s repertoire and chameleon-like reinvention upon reinvention that his vast catalogue of music represents, there is a sincerity that goes beyond him as a musician. It carries well into this collection of songs. It carries into all of us, as an appreciation as well as astonishment for the legacy.

About Cinema Music Group & ‘Heart Of Gold Volume 1’

Cinema Music Group (CMG) is a Los Angeles-based production house founded by longtime friends and collaborators Dave Resnik and Niko Bolas. With decades of experience between them, they’ve worked with some of the biggest names in music—from Neil Young to Mavis Staples to Don Henley—and share a deep belief in capturing music the old-school way: live in the room, minimal takes, and maximum feeling.

Dave Resnik has composed music for major networks like ABC and CBS and performed with artists including Ricky Martin, Donna Summer, and Sonia Dada. He also spent time in A&R, signing bands like Kyuss and working with Lucinda Williams. Niko Bolas is a legendary producer and engineer whose credits include James Taylor, Sting, Billy Joel, KISS, and a long-running collaboration with Neil Young.

In 2021, after reconnecting at a friend’s wake, Dave and Niko launched CMG to reimagine classic songs and produce new music with both established and emerging artists. They quickly became known as “the cover guys,” working out of their LA studio, The Surf Shack, and partnering with talents like Chris Pierce and Charlie Greene.

Their latest project is their most ambitious yet: Heart Of Gold Volume 1, a compilation of Neil Young covers performed by artists including Fiona Apple, Brandi Carlile, The Doobie Brothers, Eddie Vedder, Mumford & Sons, and many more. What began as a one-off session with Chris Pierce turned into a full-scale benefit project with Neil’s blessing, supporting The Bridge School, a pioneering nonprofit that helps children with severe speech and physical impairments through assistive technology.

Each artist on the album personally chose the song they covered, and nearly every track was recorded in just one or two takes, giving the record an intimate, live feel. Thanks to a distribution deal with Killphonic Rights, CMG has already raised $100,000 for The Bridge School, with Volume 1 out now, and Volumes 2 and 3 on the way.

Beyond Heart of Gold Volume 1, CMG is working on a new Chris Pierce album and a protest song compilation featuring artists like Draco Rosa, continuing their mission to make meaningful, soulful music with purpose.

    Scenius – Funny Sky

Scenius is back with their new video for the track titled ‘Funny Sky’. Scenius has long ago mastered that teetering balance between electronic and elegance. Music as a muse and beat as a behemoth, while keeping it all contained and serene within the confines of the song, for the song.

With a subtle hook and persistent rhythm, ‘Funny Sky’ captures the fear of the unknown and the assurance, reassurance, and affirmation of the known into a scenic visual that follows the fusion as much as the feeling of the song.

Check out our other features with Scenius HERE.

    About ‘Funny Sky’

With Funny Sky, Scenius pushes darkwave beyond the expected, embracing the genre without succumbing to pure melancholy. A song that feels both introspective and propulsive, shadowy yet strangely uplifting. Lyrically, the track captures the feeling of sensing an impending threat – something beyond our control. It evokes the urge to both brace ourselves and make the most of the present moment.

With warm analog synths driving the track, supported by a trance-inducing groove and a hint of exotic flavor coming from the bassline and the syncopated rhythm, Funny Sky brings fresh depth to the genre while keeping the listeners moving.

    About Scenius

Scenius draws inspiration from the early electro-pop outfits – both pre-punk (Kraftwerk, Brian Eno…) and post-punk (New Order, Depeche Mode …), through to contemporary bands (LCD Sound System and Boards Of Canada) – to pursue in their way the same thrilling mission: make vintage synths and rhythm machines sound soulful, touching and catchy. The band is a cross-channel project, composed of Steve Whitfield, based in Leeds, UK (synths), and Fabrice Nau (vocals), based in Angers, France.

The next single to come from the album is the record’s opener, ‘Blue Skies Forever’, an epic, uplifting track bubbling with vibrancy. The track’s multi-layered vocals and ethereal melodies radiate sunshine, positivity, and love. Its glistening sunshine-soaked, funk-infused vibes are perfect for the balmy summer months, as we harness the glorious energy of the beautiful blue skies around us.

Emily’s works are celebrated for their innovation and emotional depth, and ‘Blue Skies Forever’ is no exception, delivering a powerful message through her signature sound. Creating a unique fusion, she brings an infectious energy and comforting richness to every note, seamlessly blending virtuosity and adventurous musicianship of the highest order. Future-jazz and Brazilian-inspired, Saunders writes hooky basslines underpinning her riffs and grooves with an irresistibly catchy pop sensibility. At the core of ‘Blue Skies Forever,’ Emily’s soaring, enchanting voice playfully dances over her infectious melodies and bold music production, effortlessly weaving its way into the listener’s soul.

“Writing and producing music, creating its riffs, grooves, and a space for my voice and lyrics to fly means the world to me. Blue Skies Forever reaches for the blue skies that always exist above the clouds of everyday life, that despite the troubles in the world around us, hope rises in the human heart and connects us all… somehow and somewhere, the sun shines in blue skies”, says Emily.

Born in Charing Cross, Saunders grew up in Brixton, South London, in a highly musical family, singing from the age of four. However, while navigating challenging family dynamics in her teens, she sought shelter and support at a local hostel, where she lived for three years from age 16. “These difficult years spurred me on creatively, and music became my safe space, where I transformed the adversity from teenage chaos to a deeper understanding of the impact of sound on those turbulent times. This has been my driving force ever since”, she explains.

Saunders had to dig deep when diagnosed with acute psoriatic arthritis in 2017, leaving her semi-paralyzed, unable to walk, and isolated at home. “It would be easy to ask why me? Why now? But it’s empowering to be free even when everything around you feels like it’s closing in,” says Saunders, who recovered and pushed through the trauma of her disabling injuries to forge an even deeper sound and a determination to self-engineer and fully immerse herself in her music with the freedom to create with no restraints. “Focusing on the creative force within can transform every one of us. The trick is to keep believing, keep creating, and keep sharing”, she says.

Her new album ‘Moon Shifts Oceans’ is a creation of beauty, strength, and soul. Saunders is at her best; her voice is rich and magnetic, wrapping around melodies with effortless grace and artistry, offering an intimate journey through her world of deep feeling and dynamic sounds. The album conjures the perfect night — the air is warm and sultry, your friends are by your side, and the evening has just begun. Think honey vibes and breathless pop sexiness. Saunders keeps you hooked from the first track. Every note is a reminder to live life with joy and openness.

Dubbed “the Queen of Jazz Fusion,” her engaging, distinctive vocals and hands-on production blend pop and soul-jazz with echoes of Brazilian beats. With the album, Saunders masterfully balances depth and joy, offering a soul-soothing escape filled with groove, melody, and heart. Expect catchy songs, infectious grooves, and vibrant rhythms. After her critically acclaimed debut album, her follow-up, ‘Outsiders Insiders’, was described by BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum as “absolutely brilliant,” showcasing her artistry with unique compositions praised for their originality. Today, Saunders is unstoppable. Now, on her highly anticipated forthcoming new album, ‘Moon Shifts Oceans’, she has again raised the bar, offering a powerhouse of hits — her best yet, and hailed by critics as the breakout star for 2025.

Saunders’ music has hit the Top 10 on international iTunes and Amazon charts in the UK, USA, Germany, France, and Indonesia, receiving multiple 4-star reviews, including: Evening Standard, Guardian, Independent, and Daily Telegraph. Her music has received numerous plays on BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; consistently playlisted on Jazz FM; and receives widespread radio play on national stations across the globe, from US and Japan to Australia, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, México, Brazil, Turkey, New Zealand, South Korea, and South Africa.

Pat Carter – Taste of Sand

Pat Carter - Taste of Sand

Pat Carter, singer, songwriter, and driving force behind acclaimed Berlin-based Americana band Rodeo FM, has performed in dingy cellars and, at weddings and funerals, in beer tents and nightclubs, at jazz festivals, tenant movements, and demonstrations across Europe.

Along the way, he established his niche genre – leftwing country, or, as the Magazine Folker put it, “Discourse-Country”. Somewhere between Oliver Wood, Tom Petty and Chuck Prophet, influenced by Marxist writers like David Harvey or Gregoire Chamayou, Carter tells us how the devil pays the bills and the bad shit under the carpet just keeps growing.

Electric Penguins – When The World Is On Your Shoulders

Electric Penguins - When The World Is On Your Shoulders
Electric Penguins - When The World Is On Your Shoulders

After more than a decade of sonic exploration and quietly burning evolution, Electric Penguins return with the announcement of their third studio album, The Way Lights a Fire, Pt.1, out June 6, 2025. The release marks a long-awaited new chapter for the Dublin-based band, known for their ambient-electro dreamscapes and genre-defying sound.

To coincide with the announcement, the band released their powerful new single, “When The World Is On Your Shoulders,” on April 25.

The Way Lights a Fire, Pt.1 is the culmination of years of artistic growth and creative rebirth. Built on a rich foundation of cinematic textures, progressive electronica, vintage psychedelia, and alt-rock heart, the album also marks the band’s first studio work since 2010’s critically acclaimed II.

Electric Penguins, formed in 2005 in Dublin, Ireland, is a proggy, folky, rocky, ambient electro band featuring Mark Cummins and Paul Murphy. Initially a trio, they released their debut album, Goodbye from the Electric Penguins, in October 2006, garnering acclaim for its ambient electronic soundscapes.

Their sophomore effort, II, released in October 2010, continued to explore their unique blend of genres. The lead single, Highgate Hill, became a London anthem, heavily played by BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms, who named it his track of the year.

Beyond their albums, Electric Penguins have contributed to various projects, including composing the score for Channel 4’s “Sounds From The City” series. They’ve also collaborated with artists like Kim Wilde, remixing tracks such as Hope and Burn Gold / Silent Night for her Wilde Winter Songbook.

After a period of quiet evolution, the band is set to release their third album, The Way Lights a Fire, promising a return to their signature blend of vintage psychedelia, cinematic dreamscapes, progressive electronica and straight out alt-rock – with Paddy Kiernan on bass, Tony Brereton (Sack) on drums, and deeply missed, the late Barry Grace on piano.

In the release of the album, the band unveiled two new tracks: Close Your Eyes (And Try Again) and Oxygen. These tracks showcase their continued sonic evolution and artistic depth. These releases mark a new chapter in their journey, reigniting the spark that has always made their music an otherworldly experience.

Spin Class – Bagel Bagel Bagel

Spin Class - Bagel Bagel Bagel
Spin Class - Bagel Bagel Bagel

Spin Class has today released their new track titled ‘Bagel Bagel Bagel’ from their upcoming album ‘Dinner At Derek’s’, dropping later this year.

I consider this a total frenetic romp through the senses via that hotspot in your side where the song just kicked you. Recorded live in the studio, the assault of the ambiance is only found on the stage, with the tightness only found in a true musical entity, ‘Bagel Bagel Bagel’ feels like a party busting through your earbuds, yelling in those ears, asking why you don’t have a proper stereo.

    About ‘Bagel Bagel Bagel’

Formed in 2023, Spin Class’s sound combines proggy riffs and hook-heavy melodies, with some grunge and desert rock thrown in for good measure.

With ‘Bagel Bagel Bagel’, the band wanted to capture the frenetic energy of their live show, opting to record the track live in its entirety with Josh Gallop (Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw, Sergeant Thunderhoof) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath.

On the singles’ lyrical inspirations, lyricist and vocalist Louis Slater says, “Do you ever feel like a bagel? A soft, round, but delicious outside with a hole in the middle where all the bits should be? Now, times that by three, you get Bagel Bagel Bagel. Most of our lyrical inspirations are a retelling of our inner experiences, and in this belter, it’s paired with humour with lines like ‘ain’t the mix that makes the bread, hole in the bagel.’ This song is the perfect way to start the next chapter of Spin Class. It’s punchy and energetic with a layer of frustration, yet it’s a song that’s designed to light you up.”

On their decision to record live, the band explains, “For this track we wanted to write an intense, in-your-face punk song and go in the live-recorded direction, bands like Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin and how they recorded tracks being a heavy influence for us. This approach has been something we’ve never done before, but it felt very natural. We’re a live band first at the end of the day, and capturing that raw energy in production was essential. The result bounces between overstimulated punk intensity with each violent transition amplifying the live feel we’ve wanted to capture at gigs and rehearsals.”

Pageant – Show Me How To Love You

Pageant is a hard-hitting 4-piece rock band based in High Point, NC, built to revive and redefine rock ‘n’ roll for a new generation. With Roxxi Dirt on bass and vocals, Dylan Dynasty on drums, Dezzy Foxx shredding lead guitar, and Cam Duke on rhythm, Pageant fuses the raw power of rock’s golden era with a modern edge that refuses to be boxed in. Inspired by icons like Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Cinderella, their sound delivers the high-energy guitar-driven sounds of the past while unapologetically adding new, modern elements.

The band comments on the single, “Have you ever met someone who makes you feel like a teenager again, unsure of how to express your feelings? This song is a high-energy anthem about the inability to navigate strong feelings in a new relationship. Produced by Brian Craddock (Daughtry) and mastered by Grammy-winning Brad Blackwood (Mammoth, Korn, Maroon 5, Sevendust), this song is a powerhouse that takes you on a high-speed ride the second it starts and doesn’t slow down.”

While honoring the giants of classic rock, Pageant also embraces a wide array of musical influences. Their distinct sound seeks to bridge the gap between the past and future of rock, providing listeners with a unique experience that feels both raw and refined. With a passion for every genre, their music offers a fusion of styles that feels new yet nostalgic, a perfect balance between the familiar and the unexpected.

Pageant is actively pushing boundaries through relentless live shows, a highly-driven DIY work ethic, and a strong media outreach to put their name in every rock fan’s mouth. Whether it’s blowing the roof off college frat houses, self-funding tours across the country, or working with major producers and Grammy winners, Pageant is doing the work and making noise. They’re not just playing music. They’re building a movement.

    Jacob Giaimo – Temple

Jacob Giaimo has today premiered his new video for the track titled ‘Temple’. While the performance style video fits with the musical narrative of the track, the real magic happens with the live track itself. A sweet mix of pop and guitar with a powerful and emotive songwriting laid out bare for all to hear.

Musically, this is a hook-filled, memorable moment set to music. Lyrically poetic with a nonchalant way about it, and matching the beat, beat for beat, with each verse, letting that match with the original vocal style and timbre of a true artist.

Check out our other features with Jacob Giaimo HERE.

    About ‘Temple’

Jacob says, “I wrote the song, ‘Temple’, to convey a message that as humans, we’re stronger as a unit than as one. We come together and create something bigger than ourselves.”

The performance video for “Temple” was shot at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles, CA., which shows Jacob in his element, highlighting his true talent and passion for his craft. The crowd is clearly engaged with Jacob’s lighthearted and fun banter with them, “It was a great experience! It was new to me to have someone filming at the show, but once I started, I was comfortable blocking out the idea of being filmed and focusing on the performance and the audience connection.”

Jacob is not only about his music, but he also enjoys basketball, Harry Potter, and fashion. While he likes various types of music, he is currently listening to Sam Fender as well as Royal Otis and Peter Cat Recording Co.

Writing music for Jacob is somewhat of a process: “I’m waiting for the right song to come through about how I find it hard to be present, so it feels like I’m just constantly living to make memories to reflect on.”

Jacob is currently working on new music and has recently recorded a song he plans on releasing soon. “With that, I always like to have more in the pipeline. I’m an artist who loves making albums, so I’m sure there will be another one of those too.”

Michael Isaak – Wrong Version of Me

Michael Isaak - Wrong Version of Me
Michael Isaak - Wrong Version of Me

Michael Isaak has today released his new single titled ‘Wrong Version of Me’. A song written in the middle of a life transition, there are hints of emotional change and fear of said change, with a subtle reassurance that everything will be alright, in the end. The music perfectly takes the vocals hand in hand and creates a gentle path for the listener to take everything in.

While this is one of those songs that quietly sneaks up on you, it’s not out of any malicious or fearful intent. What I mean is that it’s very refreshing not to listen to an angry song. That seems to be the trend nowadays. And, while this song simply is, it’s also what It could be.

    About ‘Wrong Version of Me’

Written in the wake of Michael Isaak’s decision to move to New York, the song wrestles with identity, change, and the unknown. “I was honestly pretty scared,” Isaak admits. “Last time I moved away, I became someone I couldn’t recognize. In a way, this song is a promise to myself to stay as genuine as I can be.” This sincerity is visible in his confessional style lyricism, which unravels his experience of struggling to differentiate between expectations and realness. The chorus, “I never thought I’d be here, with the wrong person to believe, and I never wanted to leave from here, with the wrong version of me,” encapsulates the emotional weight of these realizations, reflecting on how external influences can distort our sense of self. His authenticity extends to the recording process, in which Isaak collaborates once again with Charlie Hickey and Tyler Graham, also bringing his band to create an instantaneous, lively sonic experience.

With Matt TC Lucas on drums and Will Martinez pushing boundaries with his “wacky pedals” on electric guitar, “Wrong Version of Me” carries a rich, textured instrumentation palette. Produced by Hickey and Graham, this track maintains a balance between polished indie rock and the raw, unfiltered emotion that drives the song’s narrative. Fully self-written, “Wrong Version of Me” is a defining moment in Isaak’s catalogue, one that is unmistakably his, musically and lyrically.

Originally from Los Angeles but currently based in NYC, Michael Isaak is a rising artist who blends indie rock, folk, and alternative influences with his deeply personal storytelling. His sound is shaped by his love for guitar-driven melodies and his Arabic heritage, creating a unique fusion that resonates with listeners. In 2024, he released a six-track EP, Forever Is a Scary World, that took nearly two years to complete because of its intricate production and heartfelt lyricism. Featuring Arabic instrumentation by Abanoub Samir on “plane thoughts,” the project went on to receive over 100k streams on Spotify, resulting in Isaak’s largest headline show to date at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles in July 2024.

    About Michael Isaak

    Indie folk, Egyptian American style.

Michael Isaak is an emerging artist from Los Angeles who draws inspiration from both guitar-driven folk and classical Arabic music. Having grown up in the US, Isaak shares how music enables him to reconnect with his homeland thousands of miles away.

In 2024, Isaak released Forever is a Scary Word, a six-track EP that he’d been crafting for almost two years. Self-produced in collaboration with Owen Korzec and featuring Arabic instrumentation by Abanoub Samir on “plane thoughts,” the project presents an intimate glimpse into Isaak’s life and internal monologue, characterized by his distinctive vocals and delicate guitar patterns.

The project went on to amass over 100k streams on Spotify, commencing in Isaak’s largest headline show to date at The Moroccan Lounge in July 2024.

Geiger von Müller – Origins #5 (Pelso Remix)

Geiger von Müller is set to drop his new video for the track titled ‘Origins #5 (Pelso Remix)’, which will be released in a few days. We’ve got that first look right here.

To say this is an original piece of music is an understatement. It is a lucid combination of sublime sonic fusion of genres and a piece of music for those who get lost in their thought with the right soundtrack. Giving that vibe of part feeling and part emotion, ‘Origins #5’ feels like a concept for the introverted and an anthem for the subtle genius.

The video has a matching avant-garde vibe and way about it. Meaningless to those who never bother and meaningful to those who are aware of their surroundings, we get an obscure marriage of sight and sound done in such a way that makes it as captivating for the mind as it is captive in the heart.

    About Geiger von Müller

Geiger von Müller is a contemporary experimental slide guitarist based in London. He’s known for his blend of Western ghost acoustic delta blues guitar with interstellar sonic explorations. His work often features retro sci-fi audiovisual themes, drawing inspiration from preternatural 3D cgi animations or 1980s Classic Lego Space models. He has collaborated with electro-avant-noise remixers and producers extensively, from New Orleans to Manchester. His latest album is “Slide Sonatas II.”, including the tune “Origins #5”. The latter has been remixed by fellow Londoner Pelso. Von Müller’s recent music videos have been “Alien Fig Yogurt Incident” and “Radar Truck”.

The Dirty Nil – Gallop Of The Hounds

On their fifth album, The Lash, The Dirty Nil strips back their signature flash and colour for something raw and relentless. Inspired by brutal Italian bronze reliefs and medieval aesthetics, the Hamilton, Ontario band embraced a stark black-and-white visual style, ditching their previous vibrant palettes for spikes, skulls, and knives.

Recording with local engineer Vince Solivari, the band captured a more urgent and unfiltered sound in just two weeks at Boxcar Sound. Tracks like “Rock N’ Roll Band” vent frustration about industry struggles, while “Gallop of the Hounds” unleashes searing riffs and pounding beats fuelled by emotional tension. Yet amid the chaos, quieter moments like “Spider Dream” reveal the band’s more delicate side.

The Lash is a cathartic reset, one that trades polish for grit, delivering The Dirty Nil at their most visceral and honest.

Hippie Death Cult – Red Giant (Live at The Star Theater) + Tour Dates

Hippie Death Cult has today released their new live video for the track titled ‘Red Giant’ from their upcoming live EP ‘Live at the Star Theater’, dropping May 9th via Heavy Psych Sounds.

What better way to advertise your live show than, well, to put out a live EP. Bands and artists live or die by the reputation of their live shows, especially when you use backing tracks (ugh). Hippie Death Cult gives me that feeling I last felt when I saw a woman naked for the first time. Like, I found a whole new world. Like, there was more out there than just my little slice of the earth.

Hippie Death Cult breathes fire into that jam band indie mentality with a sonic assault of the senses that never lets up yet lets you in. Untouched and unfiltered, ‘Live at the Star Theater’ is rebel rawness meant for those who seek as such and demand more.

About Hippie Death Cult & ‘Live at the Star Theater’

Hippie Death Cult’s journey through shameless and triumphant artistic expression has led them to become a vibrant force in the realms of psychedelia and riff-heavy rock n’ roll. This journey has not been without its challenges, but the band has always managed to emerge stronger and more determined than ever. Throughout their formative years, the band underwent what proved to be a very significant evolution, transitioning from a 4-piece to a more cohesive and harmonious power trio. This lineup currently consists of guitarist and founder Eddie Brnabic, vocalist and bassist Laura Phillips, and drummer Harry Silvers.

In 2019, Hippie Death Cult caught the attention of Cursed Tongue Records, who signed them for the release of their highly anticipated album “111.” The record was met with widespread acclaim, solidifying their place in the music scene. Building on this success, the band made another significant move in 2021 by signing with Heavy Psych Sounds Records. This partnership resulted in the release of their album “Circle of Days” and a split release titled “Doom Sessions Vol.5” with label mates High Reeper. Both full-length albums soared to the very top of the Doom Charts as well as many “Album Of The Year” lists, further cementing their status as a rising force in the genre.

Their 2023 album “Helichrysum” marks a significant milestone as it sees bassist Laura Phillips stepping up on lead vocals, adding a powerful new dimension and sense of originality to their doom-tinged ‘70s sound, relentlessly powered by Eddie Brnabic’s epic shredding. With their unwavering dedication to their craft and their ability to push boundaries, Hippie Death Cult is poised to leave an indelible mark on the music scene for years to come.

Bakers Eddy – Dust On My Brain

Bakers Eddy have today released their new video for the track titled ‘Dust On My Brain’ from their upcoming EP ‘I’m Doing Better’, dropping June 6th via ADA, a division of Warner Music Australia.

More of an actual video that just happens to have lyrics, the visuals perfectly match the sound and soulful syncopation that the music entails and engulfs. Just in time for summer, said summer just got a bit hotter and brighter with a hook-filled soundtrack that we’re getting a preview of in anticipation of June 6th.

Simply feeling like a good time and sounding like a message meant for the masses, you can’t help but feel optimistic about a song that was written in a rut. Life lessons learned and a soul poured straight into the music, Bakers Eddy let you know that you are not alone in the bad times as well as the good. It’s all how you make it.

    About ‘Dust On My Brain’

Following on from their successful run of shows at New Colossus in NYC and SXSW in Austin, the band returns with a follow-up to their first single “Manners Street” with a song that addresses mental health and the struggles to maintain it.

“Dust on my brain comes from a feeling of having the walls close in around you, and being trapped in self-destructive cycles. I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t going out, seeing people. Just spinning myself out with negativity and stress and making bad coping decisions. I don’t tend to write songs when my mental health is struggling, but this one kind of poured out when I was at my lowest, and it ended up being the catalyst for change, which I’m very grateful for. It made me excited to make music, so most of the EP was written because of ‘Dust’.”
    Ciarann Babbington, Bakers Eddy

    About Bakers Eddy

Bakers Eddy formed as teenagers in 2011 in Wellington, New Zealand. Led by charismatic Ngati Porou & Ngati Tuwharetoa front man Ciarann, the band of four friends (rounded out by Ian, Alex, and Jamie) relocated to Australia and since then have built a live show that has become the stuff of legend. Carving out a niche all their own with a sound that straddles the punk and pop worlds, and a show that veers from chaotic to tender, Bakers Eddy make everyone who comes to their shows feel part of their whanau.

Bakers Eddy released their debut album, Love Boredom Bicycles, in March 2022. Recorded with Oscar Dawson (Vacations, Alex Lahey) at the helm, the album spawned the infectious singles ‘21’, ‘Concertina’, and ‘My Baby’s Like Cigarettes’. Having supported Maggie Lindeman, Stand Atlantic, and Grandson, Bakers Eddy are ready to take on the world. Their forthcoming EP was self-produced with Vince McIntyre (Fan Girl) and mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Weezer) and will be out later in 2025.

Mobley – We Do Not Fear Ruins

Mobley - We Do Not Fear Ruins
Mobley - We Do Not Fear Ruins

Mobley has today released his new album titled ‘We Do Not Fear Ruins’ via Last Gang Records. The mark and tell of a good songwriter is when they have a group of songs laced together as an album, with absolutely no filler, yet a lot of diversity.

A diverse sense of self coupled with guttural feelings set to music from the heart of an artist who wears their heart on his sleeve. The soul of music is finely represented with a percussive hook-filled overflow of such originality and creative response that you can’t help but listen again and again just to find your latest favorite spot.

What I find most intriguing about ‘We Do Not Fear Ruins’ is how the sheer diversity of the music between each song fits so smoothly together. I can’t decide if it is because of the songwriting and execution or if it is just the overall style of the artist himself. I just know it fits and, even though there are 16 tracks to behold, I have no problem hitting the play button and just letting go and buckling up for the ride. If this is not on vinyl, it should be.

    About Mobley

When you don’t fear ruins, “apocalypse” is another word for opportunity.

This is a central theme of Mobley’s We Do Not Fear Ruins, an exploration of the intimate, the infinite, and time itself. The genre-promiscuous, sonically expansive concept album continues the story of the character Jacob Creedmoor, first introduced in Mobley’s 2022 EP, Cry Havoc!, an ordinary man who became radicalized into a Robin Hood-esque hero in an alternate version of the early ‘80s United States.

Against a backdrop of futuristic art rock, Jacob fought fascism, pulled off daring heists, and was eventually captured by the government and imprisoned in suspended animation. We Do Not Fear Ruins is the next chapter in Mobley’s ongoing sci-fi epic. The story leaps nearly 300 years into the future, when Jacob awakens in a post-apocalyptic, post-U.S. world. Having lost everyone he’s known, he navigates grief, memory, and heartbreak through a range of sonic textures as expansive as the wastelands (or possibly afterlife) he finds himself wandering.

When deciding on the most effective sonic palette for his current project, Mobley turned to 1981, when Jacob was frozen. “When I listened to some of the songs in the air during that period, I was stunned by the incredible diversity of popular music,” he says. “You had Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson, but new wave and funk were still happening. Pop and country were doing a bunch of interesting things. R&B was huge, and there were the first rumblings of hip-hop, as well as vestigial traces of disco.”

Despite the sweeping audiovisual scope of Jacob’s saga, the lyrics of We Do Not Fear Ruins remain decidedly internal: an examination of loneliness, yearning, and cautious hope – universal feelings, no matter what period we’re stuck in.

The time spent between Cry Havoc! and now saw Mobley touring coast to coast, writing a forthcoming novel that expounds on We Do Not Fear Ruins’ concept, and composing musical scores for film and stage. Mobley has produced and directed the music for an Adidas commercial during the Paris Olympics and composed the theme for Webby Award-winning SiriusXM & Smithsonian podcast All Music Is Black Music, hosted by Selema Masekela and featuring guests like Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, and St. Vincent.

Mobley’s songs have racked up millions of streams across Spotify and Apple Music and has landed sync placements on HBO, FOX, NBC, ESPN, and CW, seen airplay adds on Alt Nation, KROQ, KUTX, ACL Radio, and KEXP, and has received praise from outlets like Billboard, Noisey, Rolling Stone, the New York Times, Consequence, American Songwriter, and beyond. He’s played festivals like ACL, Lollapalooza, and SXSW and has opened for acts like Cold War Kids, Phantogram, James Blake, WAVVES, Sylvan Esso, Matt & Kim, and more.

The present moment finds Mobley focused on the future. He says, “Living with and working through these songs and stories has been the most fulfilling challenge of my artistic life. I can’t wait to share it all and see the life it takes on when it’s no longer just mine.”

Museum of Light – Long Dark

Museum of Light - Long Dark

Museum of Light has released a powerful new bonus track, “Long Dark,” recorded during the sessions for their latest album ‘Diviner,’ with returning producer Scott Evans. More than just an outtake, the song features a moving spoken word contribution from Johnny Chal, a New Zealander who survived a cardiac event while in Sydney.

After waking in the hospital, Johnny heard “How Everybody Dies” from the band’s debut album and reached out to share his experience of having his heart stop, and what it felt like to go “somewhere else.” His reflections became the emotional centerpiece of “Long Dark,” a track that explores the space between life and death with haunting intimacy. The song is streaming everywhere now and is also included as a bonus digital download with all purchases of Diviner.

    About Museum Of Light’s ‘Diviner’

Every band lucky enough to get to make a second record learns that the journey there comes with a thousand hard choices. Double down on a sound that worked so far? Undertake wild-hair experiments to escape narrow boxes? Or let the weight of expectations inside and out paralyze you? All of the above plus more, if we’re honest—a lot can get in the way of “just make a rad record you can be proud of.”

For Seattle’s Museum Of Light, the path to Diviner became clear at Ocean Sound. Set against stony peaks and icy fjords on the island of Giske, Norway, the turf-roofed studio’s setting let everyone involved bask in the kind of mythic landscapes that always served as a kind of closet influence for the band. Turns out inspiration is easy to come by when it’s nudged along by a walk down a wind-raked coastline or a night spent tracking with hallucinogenic auroras dancing in the sky. It wasn’t always comfy: Each day began with a cold plunge in the Norwegian Sea, as prescribed by returning producer extraordinaire Scott Evans (Sumac, Thrice, Kowloon Walled City).

These methods yielded a record that stomps with heavy, crushing swagger while sheltering the hollows of sparkling melody and hushed breath that set Museum Of Light apart. Going beyond the blueprint of their debut Horizon would’ve been impossible without the addition of new bassist and certified Tøne Lörd Jeff Bartlett, who dug up the bones of the earth and somehow strapped them to rosewood. Singer Elissa Alvarez both channeled and defied decades of opera training to transform into a beyond-human choir that gives Diviner its ethereal soul. And award-winning poet Amelia Urry gifted the record its pulse with haunting words about the slippery nature of existing in a lost world.

In the end, “making a rad record you can be proud of” was all that Museum Of Light set out to do — international twists and turns be damned. We think they got there. Listen for yourself.

The Ritualists – Too Pure To Cure

The Ritualists - Too Pure To Cure
The Ritualists - Too Pure To Cure

The Ritualists have today released their new album titled ‘Too Pure To Cure’. Rising from the ashes of the world that was, pre-pandemic, The Ritualists, to me, represent that new guard of the indie music scene. Taking each song and making it special. Individual. Nothing to fill the space, but everything to make room for more. A signature sound that makes everything a ‘future classic’.

‘Too Pure To Cure’ is something to behold. Think something mixed by Tim Palmer and approved by David Bowie. Not in sound, but in vision. Something that feels so right from that first note to the last beat. Each song stands on its own while taking you to the next. You could say this is a solid rock album or a memorable indie album. That all depends on you and your tastes. But what you can call it is original.

‘Too Pure To Cure’ proves that The Ritualists are a group of artists who know that the key to being a legendary band is to be a timeless brand.

    About The Ritualists

Rising from the NYC underground scene of the Lower East Side, The Ritualists first attained international critical acclaim for their debut album, Painted People, released just before the pandemic on Out of Line Music. The record, particularly its lead single “Ice Flower,” was hailed as a seamless blend of dark beauty & anthemic pop sensibilities.

The follow-up effort, Baroque & Bleeding, produced by Brit-Pop icon, Ed Buller (Psychedelic Furs, White Lies, Pulp, Suede), has been described as “pure new romantic psychedelia,” by Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, and continued the trend of critical adoration, along with regular airplay on SiriusXM. This momentum leads to multiple US tours and collaborations, performing with members of Blondie, Love & Rockets, D Generation, and The New York Dolls.

The Ritualists now seek to build on their brand of “Gothic Art Rock” (Hollywood Life) with an upcoming, full-length effort, Too Pure to Cure (out April 22 via Suite484Music) produced by GRAMMY-winner, Mario McNulty (David Bowie, Prince, Willow). The band, which has oftentimes been identified as proudly embracing the more ornate elements of rock-and-roll, has promised their latest effort will further test such boundaries.
