Slow Burn Drifters – Golden

    Slow Burn Drifters
    Slow Burn Drifters

Singer-guitarist Ray Vale of Slow Burn Drifters selected their tantalizing band name โ€œfor what someoneโ€™s about to hear,โ€ exemplifying his dark, dreamy, elegiacally timeless vocals and guitars,. Heโ€™s joined by the resplendent piano playing of Violet Booth on their album Golden, out March 7th, 2025. Valeโ€™s dramatic and passionate wide-screen vocals and songs and playing will please devoted fans of artists like Nick Drake and Scott Walker, and of the kind of music that haunts the frames of David Lynch films.

Vale grew up in Northern NJ looking at the Manhattan skyline, and now heโ€™s living in Austria looking at a very different boundary between earth and sky. Vale has written all the songs for Golden, the debut full- length for Slow Burn Drifters, but this is Valeโ€™s 12th album (with 11 others under another name). โ€œIn comparison to the other records Iโ€™ve put out, this one is more personal; itโ€™s also more melodic,โ€ Vale reveals. โ€œAdditionally, Violetโ€™s piano plays a key role in most songs, whereas it was more textural and decorative in the past.โ€

The jouissance behind the band name is how it resonates with the beauty and terror of literature, cinema, and other, forms of expression. โ€œOn top of that, when I look around, it seems like the average attention span is shrinking by the hour,โ€ Vale says. โ€œA film, book, or song that’s a โ€˜slow burnโ€™ is on the verge of extinction, but it’s exactly what we cherish: things that need to be absorbed and lived in to be understood: Romance, tragedy, and transformation โ€ฆโ€

As for what the ten-song cycle Golden is about, Vale explains โ€œI heard an interview once where someone was asked about eternity,โ€ Vale says. โ€œI think it might’ve been Joseph Campbell, and he said something like, โ€˜Eternity isn’t a long time; it’s what stands outside of time.โ€™ That always stuck with meโ€”the album title refers to that state of being, or a part of us that remains unchanged by time and moves past the appearance of separateness, like sunrise and sunset, it’s a song about pain and loss, hope, or anything in between, that’s the golden prism through which the album’s songs are being viewed.โ€

Additional players to Ray and Violet for Golden include the legendary drummer Jack Irons; and the inimitable guitarist Alain Johannes; augmented by the resplendent atmospherics of saxophonist Chris Ward and Matt Owens on trumpet. Vale himself plays also bass and a spare use of synths on the album as well.

Golden was recorded and produced by Vale at his own studio in Austria, who also mixed the record with Martin Biegger. Golden was impeccably mastered by Dave Gardner. Vale wants listeners to feel like they’re going through an emotional pleasure-pain ritual that’s opening their hearts; โ€œthey want to surrender to it,โ€ Vale explains. โ€œThe more they listen, the more their life feels like a film, and they’re less alone in it somehow; they know someone else understands. That’s what I’d like.โ€

Other highlights from Golden includes the desperately aching title track, the gorgeous โ€œOne Decision Away.โ€ and the bracing and bold opening song โ€œThe Wind.โ€ The musical DNA of these dark hymns can be traced to crepuscular anthems like โ€œPlay With Fireโ€ and โ€œSweet Thing,โ€ โ€œThe Crystal Ship,โ€ and โ€œWalk On Byโ€; creepy twilight coolness, oozing mod cool.

Genre-wise, itโ€™s alternative-indie, dream-pop, and gothic-Americana โ€“ but its swirling, transcendent sound should really be called โ€˜film music.โ€™ โ€œI think of our songs as being modern in a timeless sort of way, but theyโ€™d also be at home between the songs playing from a handheld radio in an open window tuned to the local AM stationโ€”the one that plays Motown hits and a cast of singer-songwriters from days gone by.โ€

Fake Dad – Machinery + Tour Dates

    Fake Dad - Machinery
    Fake Dad - Machinery

Fake Dad has today released their new single titled ‘Machinery’ from their upcoming EP ‘Holly Wholesome’. A mix and mash of a couple decades of pop and rock with a sound reminiscent of when alternative was the alternative, ‘Machinery’ gives a glimpse to the grit and glamour that, hopefully, is ‘Holly Wholesome’.

Fake Dad sounds like a group that was meant to be together. What I mean is, the songs are as pristine as they are original. You can hear the individual contributions from each member. And, in turn, those sounds and influences create a monster hook and anthemic level melody that takes the listener to their next favorite place. Beautiful.

Check out our other features with Fake Dad HERE.

    About Fake Dad & ‘Machinery’

Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him) aka Fake Dad are a Los Angeles based, NYC bred indie rock meets dream pop duo. Formed in 2020, the two met at a college party in the East Village and have been inseparable ever since. Melting their own unique artistic visions to build a shared sonic shorthand, Fake Dad create an intoxicating and colorful musical fusion complete with catchy pop-laden hooks, crunchy, 90s inspired guitars, grooving bass lines, and buoyant synths. With a distinctive production sound and a signature vocal delivery, the two write and record expansive musical moments from their apartment. Although Andrea and Josh come from different musical backgrounds, they share a common goal: to create music that understands you.

In the past year, Fake Dad have been fixated on posers. Specifically, rock music posersโ€”thereโ€™s just something fascinating about music made by an artist whoโ€™s pretending to be someone theyโ€™re not. In the different subgenres of rock especially, โ€œfakeโ€ can be a dirty word. But as Andrea and Josh dug into some of their favorite artists from before their time, it became clear that playing a character is pretty deeply entwined with the legacy of rock music.

PJ Harvey was a skinny, 5โ€™4 woman who bellowed about being 50 feet tall and โ€œman-sized.โ€ Stevie Nicks wore her donโ€™t mess with me or Iโ€™ll put a spell on you, witchy persona to break through the gender boundaries of rock and roll. Tina Turner was a background singer turned untouchable superstar who reinvented herself through decades of hard fought battles. LCD Soundsystem was an introvert pretending to be the life of the party, and David Bowie was pretending to be a space alien. And yet, thereโ€™s a kind of wish fulfillment there: these are people who found more than just creative expression in their artโ€”they found reinvention. Within the false image, they were able to find something true about themselves. Since the beginning of 2024, this is what Fake Dad has been able to do as well, embracing the freeing process of writing music through the lens of a character, which has allowed them to explore the sonic trappings of their favorite rock, punk, and new wave legends, as well as better understand themselves.

In their upcoming EP, Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine, Fake Dad have created characters that live in their made up world of angry, burger-flipping clowns, star-crossed knights, and masked sleep paralysis demons. Throughout the process, Andrea and Josh realized that they were using the fiction to unpack very real aspects of their lived experiencesโ€”including their identities and sexualities as romantic partners in a straight-passing relationship.

The latest offering off the project, โ€œMachineryโ€ is about the pressure for women in music to package themselves as consumable, f*ckable products just to be taken seriouslyโ€”and how that pits them against each other and themselves. Andrea confides, “This angry, teeth-grinding rock/pop track was written right after an industry showcase where every girl performing wore the exact same spike-studded braโ€”too concerned with sizing each other up to actually have a good time. As they eyed each other with loathing and borderline obsession, I stood in the corner feeling really sad that nobody was trying to connect, which is what we were all supposedly there to do. This song was written as a response to the way this kind of woman on woman (or more generally, artist on artist) hate perpetuates these spaces while the real culpritsโ€”our sick, sad society governed by narcissistic, billionaire white menโ€”totally fly under the radar. In the end, the man is the real one we’re calling out. The one that we’re sick and tired of watching get what they want, while we sit back eating from their palm.”

With a unique musical perspective, and an unparalleled communal bond with their listeners, Fake Dad have already garnered much deserved attention, landing over a dozen official Spotify playlists and selling out shows in their hometown of NYC as well as their new home of Los Angeles. The duoโ€™s upcoming project, Holly Wholesome and The Slut Machine reveals a new era in their evolution as artistsโ€”preparing listeners for the expansiveness and singularity of whatโ€™s to come in 2025 and beyond. “Machinery” is the final single off Fake Dad’s upcoming EP, Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine out on March 14th (featuring editorial picks “So Simple!” and “ON/OFF”). The release will be followed by FD’s first full band US tour with Pom Pokoโ€”including official festival plays at SXSW, Treefort, and more to be announced.

    Lucy Korts – Stronger

    Lucy Korts - Stronger
    Lucy Korts - Stronger

Hailing from Brisbane comes heavenly indie-pop singer Lucy Korts, bringing to the table the emotion-packed single โ€˜Strongerโ€™.

Lucy Korts has carefully carved out her niche in the music scene, holding Brisbaneโ€™s attention with vocals that cause goosebumps and melodies that enchant. Following her 2017 debut, sheโ€™s performed alongside artists Alex Lahey, The Paper Kites, The Temper Trap, Sarah McLeod, and more, earning her place among stand-out musicians. Her strong voice and passionate music has been noticed by QMusic and Brisbane City Council, who awarded her the QUBE Effect Award for ‘Best Original Song’ and ‘Best Performance’.

โ€˜Strongerโ€™ is emblematic of Lucyโ€™s journey, and acts as a sparkling display of her dazzling skillset; a song about reclaiming power set to drums that thump like a slow heartbeat. Piano chords throughout the song add a melancholy note that helps to elevate the confidence of the chorus, which is a burst of vivid emotion that cements this song as an empowerment ballad. With her vocal flip, Lucyโ€™s distinctive and skilled voice is the centerpiece of the song, guiding the listener through this ode to survival.

‘Stronger’ is a fierce and unapologetic pop anthem for anybody that has fought a silent battle. It’s an energetic and powerhouse track designed to pick you up inside of your struggles and carry you through. Lucy states:

“I hope that ‘Stronger’ can give you the same strength that I found writing it. I hope that it can pick you up when you don’t know how to get up. And I hope that it can help to push you forward when you don’t know which way forward is. I hope that ‘Stronger’ can remind you to be stronger than whatever it is that hurt you.”

An Exclusive Interview with Beauty In Chaos + Video Premiere and New Album

Jammerzine has an exclusive interview with Michael Ciravolo, curator of Beauty In Chaos, as well as the exclusive premiere for their new double video feature for their new singles ‘Children Of The Revolution (ft. Al Jourgensen)’ & ‘Open Your Eyes’, from their latest album ‘Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down’, also releasing today via 33.3 Music Collective.

Michael has long ago solidified his space in the indie music community on a global level. I say indie and not goth because, well, beside some other publications mislabeling BIC as goth, there is much more of a broad and fluid scope than can merely fit into a subgenre. There is more substance, variance, and a musical mission statement that highlights inclusion as well as a love for music as an expression.

And, in this interview, we talk about that inclusion and distinctiveness that is everything Beauty In Chaos stands for, from the ever-increasing membership, to the ever transforming and reimaging that is engrained in this collective and should be used as a guide and a mentorship for other artists to follow.

โ€˜Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Downโ€™ is out as of today on Bandcamp, most other streaming platforms, and a limited edition deluxe double CD HERE.

Check out our other features with Beauty In Chaos HERE.

‘Children Of The Revolution (ft. Al Jourgensen)’ & ‘Open Your Eyes’ Double Feature Video

Music is an expression of everything we are, have been, and will ever be. They are timestamps of our culture, cooperation, and coexistence. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, but, it always is what it is. ‘Children Of The Revolution’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’ are two tracks that continually define and shed light on those times in our history that will become moments in history that will define the future. That time is now. And that sometimes dark part of our now has a little light shed with these reimaging entries of the T. Rex and Lords of the New Church classics.

Some say history repeats itself. Well, it does, but sometimes the music changes. And here, we hear enough of the originals as an homage but we listen to new music. We feel the new meaning. Bookends of audio from another time relevant still. Adding substance to the visuals and lending a message to the symbolism.

Featuring Al Jourgensen (Ministry) on vocals for ‘Children Of The Revolution’ and Michael on vocals for ‘Open Your Eyes’, there is a dissonance between the two songs that creates a tension as well as a unique solace as a yin and a yang for the video as a whole that feels like two sides of the same coin. This is an unconscious highlight as to what BIC is. Community. A non-monogamous union of different genres from different parts of the world, making that world one.

“As what has become our โ€˜normโ€™, we follow up โ€˜Dancing With Angelsโ€™ with its revision-counterpart โ€˜Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Downโ€™! I am truly blessed to have enlisted this amazing collection of talented and creative Artists, Producers and DeeJays to create their own interpretations of the albumโ€™s original 8 songs.

It is indeed a โ€˜bigโ€™ listen, with 27 unique and diverse tracks. As with our other three re-envision releases, it is my hope that you will find your own โ€˜gemsโ€™ amongst โ€ฆ which to my ears are far more innovative than simply adding a โ€˜dance-club beatโ€™. You will find versions that are completely re-assembled, starting from the original vocal, as well as several โ€˜almost acousticโ€™ renditions!

Being we view this release as a โ€˜sonic continuationโ€™ of โ€˜Dancing With Angelsโ€™, we are fortunate to again have Ms. Maren Platzhoff create the beautiful hand painted art that adorn the cover and the discs!

This limited-edition double CD closes with BICโ€™s โ€˜takeโ€™ on two special cover songs. Once you see the the double-feature video HERE, it will hopefully make a bit more sense to why I opted for the title of the CD. To be VERY clear, this is NOT a call for violence or a political left or right, democrat or republican, or whatever other label that is put on everyday working-class citizens โ€ฆ but it is a double-middle-finger FU to the military industrial complex and globalists that are hell-bent on keeping the world in endless, senseless wars. Fucking enough. Open your eyes see the lies right in front of you.”

‘Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down’

About ‘Children Of The Revolution (ft. Al Jourgensen)’, ‘Open Your Eyes’, & ‘Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down’

As what has become Beauty In Chaosโ€™s modus operandi, their most recent studio release, โ€˜Dancing With Angelsโ€™ is now followed up with its โ€˜re-envisionโ€™ companion โ€˜Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Downโ€™. This 29-track Limited Edition double-CD features stylistically diverse versions of the 8 songs that comprise โ€˜Dancing With Angelsโ€™. BICโ€™s curator, Michael Ciravolo says โ€œI still really enjoy turning complete control of these songs over to an extremely talented cast of artist, producers and dee-jays, giving them total creative freedom to sonically disassemble and reassemble these tracks as they hear โ€˜em. I realize that this is a BIG listen, but I think our BIC audience will find some gems amongst these reiterations that certainly run the gamut from almost-acoustic to four-on-the floor-dance clubโ€™.

Returning participants in the chaos-fun include Mark Gemini Thwaite, Kitty Lectro, Tyler Bates, Kevin Kipnis and Julian Shah-Tayler, with a cast of newcomers as William Faith, Frontal Boundary and Combichristโ€™s Andy LaPlegua. Beauty In Chaos also worked with Ashton Nyte and Cynthia Isabella to create two โ€˜almost acousticโ€™ versions of their songs, which Ciravolo cites amongst his favorites.

This double-CD will be limited to 100 copies, and is available via through Beauty In Chaosโ€™s on-line store. BICโ€™s curator adds, โ€˜since this is the sonic-companion to โ€˜Dancing With Angelsโ€™, we are blessed to again have German artist Maren Platzhoffโ€™s hand-painted art adorning this CD.

Also coinciding with this release, Beauty In Chaos is premiering a โ€˜double featureโ€™ video of the two โ€˜bonusโ€™ tracks that close this album. While careful not to categorize them as a political statement, Ciravolo describes this choice of covering T. Rexโ€™s โ€œChildren Of The Revolutionโ€ (featuring Ministryโ€™s Al Jourgensen on vocals) and The Lords Of The New Churchโ€™s โ€œOpen Your Eyesโ€ as a โ€˜middle-fingerโ€™ to the Military Industrial Complex and Globalists that keep the world in endless, often senseless wars. โ€œIt is a more than a bit frightening that humanity seems destined to repeat history as opposed to learning from it. Stiv (Bators) said it perfectly โ€ฆ. โ€œOpen your eyes see the lies right in front of youโ€ฆ.โ€

    Grabyourface – Sadgirl Mixtape

    GRABYOURFACE
    GRABYOURFACE

Grabyourface has today released their new album titled ‘Sadgirl Mixtape’. Poetry set to the motion and emotion of music, we have a set of songs that set the tone and the mood of the moment you find yourself in while you listen.

Relate, elate, and reflect to your inner introvert with solid music and fluid feeling from a family of musicians that create a safe space outside of the box of the norm and gives you all of the rough edges with a grain of salt and a spoonful of sugar.

    About Grabyourface

Think Linkin Park meets Lana Del Rey crossed with a heavy dose of ritualistic spoken-word and gut-wrenching lyrics. A sense of not belonging anywhere and constant search of oneself. An anger for the abusers, may they be romantic or capitalistic. A deep dive into one’s darkest feelings, in order to maybe, one day, better understand what happened. Their stage persona is where grabyourface lets the demons loose. A mesmerizing, madness-fueled show, reminiscent of the punk era with toxic, dangerous and sexy overtones.

Olivia Reid – All in Time

    Olivia Reid
    Olivia Reid

Reminiscent of the wintry season, the track radiates a comforting sense of calm through a bright and meditative pace. Olivia Reid expresses, โ€œI wrote this song about the winter, struggling to let myself feel calm in the darker hibernal months of the year.โ€ Introduced by a light acoustic guitar line, the single maintains a hypnotic walking tempo creating almost a spiritual forward motion, while Olivia Reidโ€™s delicate and ethereal vocals welcome listeners to come in close. โ€œSonically, we added a sample of someoneโ€™s footsteps in the snow and ambient voice memos from my trip to Poland that I had labeled โ€˜poland forestโ€™ to create this natural world I was imagining,โ€™โ€ Reid shares.

With Reidโ€™s tender lyrics and production co-created with indie star Tim Atlas, the result is a winter wonderland of serenity, where the sun comes through the trees and hits the snow, reflecting an angelic atmosphere of calm. After initially writing the lyrics as a message of patience, Reid recently dealt with the losses of multiple family members, bringing a new meaning of comfort to lyrics like โ€“ โ€œitโ€™s habitual, itโ€™s natural, itโ€™s not to fear, no not to fight, mythical, spiritual, all in time dear all in time.โ€ The single was mixed by Daniel Neiman (Pom Pom Squad, Meg Smith), mastered by Grammy-award-winning engineer Jett Galindo (Weezer, The Carpenters, Colbie Caillat), with additional vocal engineering from Amara Jaeger at Hyperballad Music.

Known for her strong lyricism, soothing vocals, and cross-genre collaborations, Olivia Reid articulates the most intimate parts of the human experience. From the age of six, Reid started writing songs and learned to play the guitar at eight. Inspired by some of the most recognizable voices in music, from Stevie Nicks to Norah Jones, Erykah Badu, and Florence Welch, Reidโ€™s recognizable vocal tone and intuitive lyrics have captured listeners worldwide. Her repertoire of music includes her EPs Earth Water (2021), TO BE NAMED BY THE PEOPLE (2023), and her multi-million stream collaborations, including “Time is Mine” with Kidswaste, “What You Came Here Forโ€ with Jae Luna, and โ€œAbove the Cloudsโ€ with SลธDE, which recently earned a Gold Record certification in Australia.

Reid has been praised by outlets such as Earmilk, Under the Radar Magazine, and Wonderland with support on playlists such as Apple Music’s Happy Pop, New Alternative and New Music Daily and Spotify’s Infinite Indie Folk, Folk Arc, Femme Fatale, and Noteable. Her music can be heard on The Cleaning Lady on Fox, Love Island Australia, the AXL film, Another Girl, and the upcoming Universal Studios movie, Tripped Up.

    Colossal Street Jam – Hey!

Colossal Street Jam has today released their new video for the track titled ‘Hey!’ from their long awaited upcoming album ‘No Way To Live’ dropping February 14th.

Giving a hint of that live sound and a glimpse of the feeling behind the fusion, ‘Hey!’ is the final word before the start of the next chapter in all that is Colossal Street Jam. That rare talent of capturing the sound created where the band thrives, the stage, and the minds behind what makes the name, Colossal Street Jam, are heir apparent with a future classic sound from a long awaited album that is sure to make the ‘best of’ lists on a few news outlets at the end of this year. The waiting is almost over!

“When we started writing ‘Hey!’, we wanted to capture that raw, unfiltered energy that is in our live show. The song speaks to the powerful hold that the media and social media have on our lives, shaping people’s views and influencing them. It’s kind of a call to break free from the constant noise around us, like the line in the song, “Are you falling apart, cause they’re breaking you?”. This is by far the heaviest riff on the album. Hey!’ was written at the height of the pandemic, when the media as a whole was sharing a lot of intensity and urgency.”
    Gene Potts, Colossal Street Jam

Check out our other features with Colossal Street Jam HERE.

    About ‘No Way To Live’

Colossal Street Jam drop new video “Hey!” from upcoming album ‘No Way To Live’. The track was written during the Covid pandemic and goes into the media storm that followed with multiple outlets spreading a mix of medical based and fictitious information and using scare tactics to gain the publics attention. It reflects on a time when no one knew who to trust regarding what was going on in the world and the chaos and confusion it all brought with it.

“Creating ‘No Way To Live’ was a wild strange ride through ups and downs. The pandemic and health issues threw us countless curveballs, but it also fueled our creativity and passion and desire to finish the album. Every track on this album is a testament to our resilience and commitment to bringing raw, authentic rock to our friends and fans. Despite the challenges, we poured our hearts into this project because we love the music that we write together. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
    Gene

The album is set to drop on February 14th 2025 and takes you on quite a journey. Written through Covid and during two of the band members battling cancer, this album is a plethora of emotions and strength.

The album itself caters to many rock fans with its soaring vocals, crushing grooves and solid hooks. It also has a 70’s vibe to it, making it very appealing and nostalgic to its listeners.

    About Colossal Street Jam

Itโ€™s once been said that all roads lead to homeโ€ฆ

Thatโ€™s precisely where this long-time band of brothers & creative soulmates found themselves, when their well-traveled musical roads converged.

It was at this poignant juncture that Colossal Street Jam was born.

One may define their electrifying synergy as the cosmic melding & explosive concoction of abstract minds, unique talent, inherent soul, and tireless passion for their beloved craft.

Having a deep & mutual admiration for one another, as well as having tremendous respect for their many, and diverse collective influences, who helped shape their gritty, melodic, psychedelically tinged hard rock stylings, each member truly brings their own individuality, and nuance to the mix. An eclectic potpourri for the senses, CSJ ultimately, and seamlessly fuse their independent ideas to deliver a singular vision & signature sound that can easily be coined as โ€œNew Classic Rockโ€ for the ages. This hard-driving, 70โ€™s inspired, 5-piece ensemble is comprised of Gene Potts (vocals)โ€ฆ Sal Marra (guitar/vocals)โ€ฆ Tony Flora (bass)โ€ฆ Dave Halpern (drums)โ€ฆ and Eric Safka (keys).

With their roots firmly planted and their musical heritage tightly in place, CSJ has long been an integral part the legendary Asbury Park, NJ music scene. Always proud to honor these roots, and the place that gave them their start, the band forever carries with them that feeling of tradition, and heart that has endeared them to growing audiences both nationally and internationally. In 2016, the bandโ€™s release, โ€œLiving Freeโ€, was met with critical acclaim and worldwide press. The albums single, โ€œSongbirdโ€ received extensive radio airplay both locally, and globally. In 2018, that same record won an award for Australian Indie Album of The Year For Internet Radio.
It subsequently remained on the Indie charts, Down Under, for 6 months.

Later that year, in November of 2018, CSJ released their follow up album, โ€œJust Take Holdโ€โ€ฆ

Once again, they were greeted with extensive Indie and College radio airplay for that recordโ€™s namesake single, โ€œJust Take Holdโ€, as well as for their cover version of the Sugarloaf classic, โ€œGreen Eyed Ladyโ€. In May and December of 2019, CSJ completed two successful European tours, which journeyed them throughout The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. As the world paused for the next couple years, due to the global pandemic, CSJ was still hard at work on their next creative endeavor.

    The Bad Wires – Wisecracks

    The Bad Wires - Wisecracks
    The Bad Wires - Wisecracks

The Bad Wires have released their new single titled ‘Wisecracks’. From grit to glory, the guitar is as raucous as it is radical. Feeling rebelliousness from every single angle, ‘Wisecracks’ adds just enough hook to make it memorable yet victoriously take us back to when rock was rock and music was fun.

About The Bad Wires & ‘Wisecracks’

The Bad Wires are an up and coming three piece Manchester based rock and roll band who are bringing the noise with their high octane, blues infused, punky indie belters.

Made up of Danny Waterson on lead vocals and guitar, Ellis Wilson on bass and Tim Dixon on drums, their dirty, bluesy, guitar driven tunes are reminiscent of artists such as Jack White, The Black Keys and The Stooges, while also managing to stay quintessentially British in their lyrical and vocal attack.

Thereโ€™s also a cinematic edge to their music that they credit to the same sort of vibe of artists like Lana Del Rey and Arctic Monkeys.

Having spent 2024 rehearsing, perfecting and recording their sound, The Bad Wires are now delighted to unleash their debut single โ€˜Wisecracksโ€™ into the world.

โ€˜Wisecracksโ€™ starts off as it means to go on with its straight of the bat, fuzzing, snarling guitar riffs and smattering of driving drum beats overlaid with gloriously distorted vocals giving rise to those deliciously blues infused funky base notes.

โ€˜Wisecracksโ€™ immediately sets The Bad Wires apart from all their contemporaries by providing us with something that is both instantly recognizable as a banging rock and roll anthem, whilst also managing to be incredibly fresh and exciting, skipping and jumping along through genres and blending them effortlesslyโ€ฆ. And my god those guitar solos are simply euphoric!!

I defy anyone not to fall in love with this track and indeed this band from the very first listen.

โ€˜Wisecracksโ€™ was written by Danny Waterson and was recorded at Airtight Studios in Manchester and Produced by Seadna McPhail.

    Robots in Love – Crush

    Robots in Love - Crush
    Robots in Love - Crush

Robots in Love smash the wall between rock and electronic music.

Known for their innovative production and dynamic live shows, they seamlessly merge heavy guitars and huge drums with driving electronics. The result is genre-defying but always recognisable as the Robots in Love sound.

Formed in October 2023 in ลŒtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand.

Elenor Rayner (vocals, production) has credits on more than 80 releases as producer, vocalist or remixer and has played clubs and festivals around the world. Her solo releases are under the name Sobriquet. She has played in Soulscraper, Snog and The Crystalline Effect and she is the producer for dark pop act Human Confusion.

Alex Burchell (drums, production) is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and producer with multiple releases. He remixes under the name Magnetique and is half of synthwave act Techno-Logique. He also plays in the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, who recently supported The Chemical Brothers.

Tony Lumsden (bass) has been an international session and touring musician for many years, playing with Jan Hellriegel and Hello Sailor.

Having two producers from different backgrounds meant the band quickly established their unique sound. Elenor’s emotive goth-industrial programming and Burchell’s precise and sophisticated prog metal styling makes a formidable combination. The result is epic.

The band has been touring constantly around New Zealand and twice to Australia to play shows and a live-to-air on Melbourne radio.

They have released four EPs and had tracks on several compilations.

“Crush” has been described as a “pure hit of dopamine”. With their signature synths and heavy guitars it’s fast moving and builds to an uplifting finale.

The release includes a symphonic remix by Alex, under the name Magnetique, and a video edited by Elenor.

    AUTร˜NE - Medusa

An up tempo rocker with soaring melodies, this is definitely a song to showcase the talents of this up & coming North Wales band, & is definitely one for fans of the likes of Halestorm, Tonight Alive & Paramore.

Autรธne was founded by lead singer and songwriter Jasmine Roberts. At the age of 19, Jasmine wrote and fully funded the first EP which was recorded in 2016 at the motor museum studios in Liverpool. Producer Al Groves (Bring Me The Horizon) beautifully tied together 3 songs along with Jasmine to create the โ€˜Emergeโ€™ EP. Upon self release, the leading single โ€˜Accentuate And Determinateโ€™ reached a rather fabulous 17th position on the iTunes rock charts and the song received airplay from BBC introducing and stations in America and Australia.

In 2023, the first single of the new era โ€˜Homeโ€™ was released. This song showcased a softer side to Jasmine’s writing, but fuelled her desire to write a full album. In April 2023 Autรธne gained the attention of Youth, a Grammy award winning producer and bassist for Killing joke and the band were offered an opening slot on his North West tour. Autรธne are now recording their full length album in Stiwdio Sain in North Wales, working with Aled Hughes who produced their last single โ€˜Homeโ€™.

Medusa is the first single from the upcoming album and is out now. Punchy guitars, a hard hitting rhythm section and anthemic melodies topped off with catchy hooks, ‘Medusa’ represents what is to come with the upcoming summer release.

    Sohodolls – My Religion

Sohodolls have today premiered their new single titled 'My Religion' via Filthy Pretty / A&G Records.
Sohodolls have today premiered their new single titled 'My Religion' via Filthy Pretty / A&G Records.

Sohodolls have today premiered their new single titled ‘My Religion’ via Filthy Pretty / A&G Records. Sohodolls have long ago solidified their place in every music scene they get lumped into. From London to the world, their reemergence into the music is well deserved and was longed for.

‘My Religion’ takes the next step. Staying signature while advancing that little bit to hit the feels once again, the track veers and swerves between mainstream pop and indie glory. Synth as a surrogate for all that means and is meaningful in what a song is. Sometimes sweet, sometimes snarky, ‘My Religion’ takes a headshot to the temple the masses worship at with the mainstream assembly line music we’re force fed via TV and social media. Indulgence for the introvert.

Check out our other features with Sohodolls HERE.

    About ‘My Religion’

Sohodolls are back with a bang for 2025 with their infectious new banger โ€˜My Religionโ€™. The track is about a journey through obsession. It’s an indulgent pop song unashamedly inspired by brazen noughties pop like Eminem, Britney Spears and even Ginuwine. However, anything ‘pop’ going through the Sohodolls mincer machine will always come out darker with unhinged synths, especially when it’s produced by Grammy-nominated Dimitri Tikovoi (Charli XCX, Black Honey, Becky Hill) who also produced Sohodolls’ third biggest track ‘Mayday’.

On the high-energy track, Sohodollsโ€™ Maya von Doll says, โ€œI had been intrigued by the almost comedic arrogance of some 90s & noughties pop and RnB songs. I thought it might be fun to try to sing like I was a player. So ‘My Religion’ is as bold as I can get, and it was super fun trying it. I made sure I kept my British accent in the rap section though it was hard as I had always sung along to American rap.โ€

โ€˜My Religionโ€™ continues an exciting new era for Sohodolls, juxtaposing catchy pop tendencies with the bandโ€™s trademark seductive electronic darkness, as they limber up to launch their long-awaited new album this year. The potent track is a brand-new alt-pop anthem for 2025 that invites listeners to convert to the Sohodolls cult; a movement that celebrates the misfits and those who donโ€™t conform to societal norms. The power of this loyal fanbase so far has helped the band recently climb up the viral Billboard charts after Madonnaโ€™s daughter kickstarted interest in the band by dancing to one of their 00โ€™s releases on TikTok.

With โ€˜My Religionโ€™, we again see Sohodolls combining top quality production, stunning songwriting and an effortlessly cool delivery for maximum earworm power. Itโ€™s the type of work, dripping in graphic melodrama, that has seen Sohodolls recently featured in Netflixโ€™s top 10 series โ€˜Geek Girlโ€™ with their song โ€˜Badโ€™, plus a slew of new press and radio love from the likes of BBC Radio 1โ€™s Nels Hylton, Absolute Radioโ€™s Frank Skinner and Atwood Magazine to name a few.

    Alexander Cardinale – Peace Train

In late 2019, singer-songwriter Alexander Cardinale and his wife Daphna welcomed their second daughter into the world. At exactly that time, his single โ€œSimple Thingsโ€ featuring Christina Perri started charting at radio, Cardinaleโ€™s family was hit with an unimaginable revelation: A few months after their new baby girlโ€™s birth, the family discovered a life-altering IVF mix-up: the baby wasnโ€™t biologically either of theirs. Their embryo had been accidentally switched, and another had been transferred into Daphna. This meant their birth daughter belonged genetically to another family, and as fate had it, the Cardinaleโ€™s biological daughter had been born to their birth daughterโ€™s genetic parents.

Faced with the impossible, both families naturally found themselves blending together, ensuring the two babies would stay in everyoneโ€™s lives and could grow up together as sisters. The experience shifted Cardinaleโ€™s entire focus. He stepped away from his rising music career, redirecting all his energy into his family and their healing journey.

Now, years later and in a period of reflection, Cardinale returns to music with renewed purpose. His latest release, a modernized cover of Cat Stevensโ€™ timeless anthem โ€œPeace Train,โ€ is a heartfelt expression of his truth. The single channels his hopes for unity, healing, and resilienceโ€”not only for his family but for listeners everywhere.

โ€œI reflect on what got me through the darkest period of my life: choosing love,โ€ Cardinale shares. โ€œWhen faced with an unimaginable situation that could have quickly taken us down, my wife and I made a conscious decisionโ€”to embrace love instead of fear, to lean into unity rather than division. It wasnโ€™t an easy choice; the pain, confusion, and uncertainty could have completely overwhelmed us. But in the midst of it all, we found strength in coming togetherโ€”not just with each other, but with another family who was experiencing the same profoundly unique upheaval.โ€

He continues โ€œThrough that choiceโ€”through the power of togethernessโ€”we discovered that love is not just a feeling but an active, courageous commitment. It required us to let go of resentment, extend empathy beyond our own pain, and recognize that healing is a shared journey. Love, not fear, became our guiding force, and in choosing it, we found a sense of peace that transcended the chaos of our circumstances. This lesson directly inspired me to release this song. Through love and unity, we were able to rewrite our storyโ€”not as one of loss but of resilience and newfound family. This isnโ€™t just a cover song to me – itโ€™s an ideological mantra.โ€

The video for โ€œPeace Trainโ€ was directed by Zac Poor and was filmed in a dark, rundown loft just south of downtown Los Angeles. Xander says โ€œDespite the stark and gritty environment, the videoโ€™s message is clear: unity and togetherness can transcend differences. It aims to highlight the idea that, regardless of oneโ€™s political, cultural, religious, or economic background, there is a shared human connection that binds us all. Through its raw and intimate visuals, the video encourages viewers to look beyond ideological divides and embrace a common sense of humanity and belonging.โ€

With โ€œPeace Train,โ€ Alexander Cardinale invites fans, old and new, to ride along on a journey of healing, hope, and unity.

    About Alexander Cardinale

Emerging in 2009 with the EP Sick of Dreaming, Cardinale spent nearly a decade honing his skills and building a fan base before diving into the mainstream with the Warner Bros. Records – issued 2016 single “Made for You.” Tenacious and prolific, he spent the early part of his career touring alongside artists like Pentatonix and Melissa Etheridge and landing songs in popular television shows like One Tree Hill, Castle, and Ghost Whisperer.

He went widescreen in 2016 after the release of the driving folk-pop hit “Made for You,โ€ which was selected to be the global anthem for the Coca-Cola ad campaign โ€œShare a Coke and a Song.โ€ The song garnered billions of impressions worldwide and was featured on 250 million bottles of Coke.

Subsequently, Cardinale inked a deal with Atlantic Records and teamed up with Christina Perri in 2019 to issue the duet “Simple Things,โ€ which ultimately reached Top 10 at Pop and AC radio.

    Vamberator – Imps

Vamberator has today premiered their new video for the track titled ‘Imps’, from their debut album ‘Age of Loneliness’, via Unifaun Productions / Maracash.

Vamberator is made up of Jem Tayle (Shelleyan Orphan) and Boris Williams (The Cure), ‘Imps’, and certainly ‘Age of Loneliness’ carries the weight and history culminated by and from both artists while lending a bit of their individual influences and talents to each track. But, there is something more at the core here. This is a fun track and video. This is a band having fun showing off their new song and showing how original it actually is. Radio friendly yet heavy on the ears, the hook is a monster and that monster loves to give hugs. Full on snark in the lyrics amid memorable melody, ‘Imps’ feels like a lifetime in the span of a few minutes, and that lifetime was well lived.

Check out our other features with Vamberator HERE.

    About ‘Imps’

An ebullient, soulful indie pop / rock anthem, laden with riffs and hooks, โ€˜Impsโ€™ is the glorious new single from Vamberator, taken from their brand-new debut album, Age of Loneliness (Unifaun Productions / Maracash, January 2025). Vamberator, described as a โ€œmagical funky hybridโ€, is the latest collaboration between surviving Shelleyan Orphan members, Jemaur Tayle and Boris Williams (also of The Cure), following the untimely passing of their longtime bandmate, Caroline Crawley, in 2016. The new Vamberator album, Age of Loneliness, is Jem and Borisโ€™s first new record together since Shelleyan Orphanโ€™s swansong, We Have Everything We Need (One Little Independent, 2008).
Speaking about the new Vamberator single, โ€˜Impsโ€™, lead songwriter Jem Tayle says:

โ€œโ€ฆโ€™Impsโ€™ couldn’t make up its mind where it wanted to be: part pop, part choral, no conventional structure, but full of riffs and unrestrained joy. I kept thinking it needs to be edited to make sense but the more I listened, the more I stopped tweaking and allowed it to run its courseโ€ฆ Split off, come with me, choose a place to go. Maybe the wilderness where a beast is free to roam. Leave your monster at home itโ€™ll be ok, surrender and get distracted by the wild things!โ€

Premiering exclusively today with Jammerzine, the video for โ€˜Impsโ€™ comprises DIY homespun footage of Jem and Boris playing in their respective homes, based between Bath, England and the south of France. โ€˜Impsโ€™ is the fourth promo single lifted from the Age of Loneliness album, following the widely acclaimed debut single, โ€˜Sleep the Giant of Sleepsโ€™; the 1970s New York soul and R&B-inspired โ€˜I Used to Be Lou Reedโ€™; and the kooky-meets-spooky Halloween glam stomp of โ€˜Creature in My Houseโ€™.

Across the Age of Loneliness album, Vamberatorโ€™s influences range from the smooth funk, soul, and R&B of Barry White or Marvin Gaye; to the art pop and glam rock of Lou Reed, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, or Roxy Music; to perhaps more expected points of reference for older Shelleyan Orphan fans, like Nick Drake or Tim Buckley. Elsewhere, threads are pulled from psychedelia, surrealism, pantomime, disco, hip-hop, indie pop, alternative rock, electronic dance and Britpopโ€ฆ all rewoven into Vamberatorโ€™s own uniquely magical flying carpet.

In his latest interview with Record Collector Magazine, Jem said of Vamberatorโ€™s future:

โ€œIโ€™ve still got a lot of musical stuff left inside of meโ€ฆ It doesnโ€™t have to be an old bloke of 63. I donโ€™t feel that age, but I know that I am that age. Thereโ€™s plenty of juice running through me so I want to use it.โ€

Age of Loneliness, the debut album from Vamberator, is available now on Vinyl LP, Compact Disc, or LP / CD bundle from Maracash; as a digital download from Bandcamp; and streaming from Spotify and all major digital music platforms.

    Budapest – Nobody’s Listening

    Budapest
    Budapest
    1. Nobody’s Listening Budapest 03:03

Budapest, the indie pop, alternative rock band from Coventry, UK, rose to prominence in the MySpace era with their cinematic sound, emotionally charged songwriting, and constant stream of demo uploads. Their immersive live performances and deep connection with fans helped the band carve out a devoted following. Their debut album, Too Blind to Hear (2002), produced by Dave Creffield (Embrace, Kaiser Chiefs) and Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay) earned critical acclaim. The single โ€œCensored Memoriesโ€ became a radio hit in Spain, reaching the Top10 on the national charts, leading to a headline slot at Bennicassim Festival, cementing the bandโ€™s reputation for creating music that resonated on a profound level.

Tragedy struck when guitarist Mark Walworth passed away shortly after the albumโ€™s completion. Determined to move forward, the band brought in longtime friend Matt Parker on guitar. However, tensions with their label began to stall their progress. A U.S. tour was canceled, and their second album, Head Towards the Dawn (2005), was released only in Spain amid ongoing legal battles. Despite its critical success, overwhelmed by financial and legal pressures, the band disbanded in 2005 after a sold-out show in Madrid,

Frontman John Garrison went on to release three acclaimed solo albums and four more with his SATELLITES project, earning placements in over 30 U.S. TV shows. The 2nd SATELLITES album received the prestigious โ€œAlbum Of The Monthโ€ at Rough Trade. John also became a sought-after session musician & songwriter, collaborating with artists like Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams and Lewis Capaldi. Keyboardist Chris Pemberton achieved similar success, performing with James Blunt and John Grant. Drummer Tom Visser went on to start the solo project Tom the Lion.

Yet Budapestโ€™s music endured, with fans cherishing their 70+ unreleased MySpace-era demos. In 2024, as the 20th anniversary of their final Madrid gig approached, Garrison and Pemberton reunited while on tour as musicians in James Bluntโ€™s band. Revisiting their old demos, they re- recorded tracks with Budapest drummer Tom Visser, discovering the musicโ€™s timeless relevance and reigniting their creative spark.

In 2025, Budapest will release these recordings and perform live in Spain, reconnecting with fans and fulfilling the promise of a legacy that remains unfinished but never forgotten.

    Frank Meyer – Baby Dynamite

Frank Meyer has today released his new video for the track titled ‘Baby Dynamite’ from his upcoming album ‘Living Between the Lines’ dropping March 25th via Kitten Robot Records.

For a dude that looks like the guy that broke my lawn mower on July 26, 2024, the song kicks all the asses in the room. All kidding aside, what I’m saying is that Frank Meyer is that everyman we so desperately need to show that the indie music scene is for and from everyone and meant for anyone. Beyond solid rock track and perfect gateway drug for ‘Living Between the Lines’ that features stellar hooks while being hard to predict as you listen. Think future classic guitar rock with indie hooks and rock rhythm mashed and melded in a blender and cooked at 800ยฐ. That magic place between fuck you and fuck yeah, where angst becomes an anthem. Brilliant.

    About ‘Baby Dynamite’

The โ€œBaby Dynamiteโ€ video was inspired by the award-nominated indie film Bellflower (2011), a masterstroke of cinematic revenge against the toxic masculinity. Adopting not only the sepia-toned filter and the dynamic handheld camerawork from the filmโ€™s aesthetic, his video also carries over the romance portion, borrowing the filmโ€™s narrative to stunning effect. โ€œOur hero is a strong, tough woman who goes on a journey across town,โ€ he relays about the similarities in the two narratives. โ€œShe is relentlessly hit on by creepy, aggressive guys until she snaps, grabs a flamethrower, and roasts them all alive! Itโ€™s only then that she meets her true love.โ€

Shot in Los Angeles and directed by Frank, โ€œBaby Dynamiteโ€ is Part 1 of a wild, funny and violent love story inspired by John Waters, Quentin Tarantino, and David Lynch (โ€œThe other part unfurls in the upcoming โ€˜Blue Radioโ€™ music video, out next month,โ€ he teases) and adds to his ever-growing award-winning oeuvre of film and video work. โ€œWhen Iโ€™m not playing music, I am a director and editor in movies and TV, so directing is definitely in my wheelhouse,โ€ he says (Frankโ€™s brother is Roadtrip / Clueless actor Breckin Meyer). Having directed videos for the landmark West Coast punk bands that he fronted including The Streetwalkinโ€™ Cheetahs, Trading Aces, Highway 61, as well as all four videos by The Dwarves from their last album Keep It Reel and the hilarious video โ€œHighway to Hellโ€ by gay AC/DC tribute band GayC/DC (which starred metal luminaries from LA Guns, Kingโ€™s X and Armoured Saint), Frank split his director duties this time around. โ€œI always try to have a multi-tasking Director of Photography by my side who can step in and direct me when I need to be on camera,โ€ he says. โ€œIn this case it was the great Sarah Remetch, known for her work with Suicide Girls.โ€

The new album Living Between The Lines by the veteran of the punk rock scene and member of the aforementioned West Coast punk bands marks the first time Frank emerges from the safety of the band collective and strikes out on his own. โ€œLiving Between The Lines is my debut solo album after years as frontman of bands like The Streetwalkinโ€™ Cheetahs and Trading Aces, sideman in FEAR, Wayne Kramer and Cheetah Chrome, and lead vocalist for James Williamson (Iggy & The Stooges),โ€ he explains. โ€œDuring Covid, I made a collaboration album with my olโ€™ pal Eddie Spaghetti (Supersuckers), which was the first time an album cover said โ€˜Frank Meyerโ€™ instead of a band name. That record did really well and got me thinking it was high time to strike out on my own and finally make a solo album.โ€

    About Frank Meyer

Instead of sticking to the formula that fueled his creativity in the past, he struck a different chord for his solo debut. โ€œI wanted this record to sound different than my other projects and add a new layer to my songwriting,โ€ he explains. โ€œSo these songs are overtly more bluesy and soulful, less punk, and a bit poppier. I guess this is my Tom Petty album. Itโ€™s about dang time!โ€

The 11-song album adds touches of blues and soul to Meyerโ€™s expected high-energy rock โ€˜nโ€™ roll, revealing a more mature voice. Frank is joined for duets by longtime friend and collaborator Lisa Kekaula of The Bellrays on the title track, Runaways icon Cherie Currie on โ€œPiece of Meโ€ and Eddie Spaghetti on โ€œPartners In Crime.โ€ He adds, โ€œIt meant a lot to have these particular vocalists join me on my solo debut. Lisa and I go way back to my earliest days of the music scene in L.A.. Eddie is also an old friend and touring buddy, and was a big inspiration in making this album. Cherie saw the Streewalkinโ€™ Cheetahs early on and helped us get signed. So all of them are dear to me and have been integral in my career.โ€

With the release of Living Between the Lines, Frank will embark on U.S. and European solo tours, both solo acoustic and with an electric backing band. He will be performing songs off the new album alongside material heโ€™s written throughout his career. โ€œThis will be my first time touring under my own name,โ€ says Meyer. โ€œIโ€™ve always been a band guy, but with Living Between The Lines, I am finally stepping out on my own. I dig it.โ€

ELLiSยทD has today released his new single titled ‘Drifting’ from his upcoming EP ‘Spill’ dropping March 21st via Crafting Room Recordings.

Clocking in at over seven minutes, the track remains interesting and feels more like a journey than a song. What I mean is, there is always something going on for the listener, as well as the mind. This is a thinking person’s track. Almost in a prog rock sort of way, but definitely within the realms of the indie music genre.

Stopping and starting in all the right places while consistently retaining that drone hook effect, ‘Drifting’ is a magnum opus sonic art as much as it is a statement for originality.

An explosion of whiplash riffs, psychedelic break downs, false endings and rip-roaring returns, โ€˜Driftingโ€™ distills the essence of ELLiSยทDโ€™s โ€œexhilaratingโ€ (Far Out) live show into a frenetic 7 minute voyage – A live show that last year ushered in two nationwide headline tours, festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Left of The Dial and a two-week tour of Europe with Fat Dog, to be followed up with a second leg this spring.

Offering more insight on the track, ELLiSยทD (real name Ellis Dickson) says: โ€œDrifting is by far my favorite track to play live. It has been through a fair few iterations, gets everyone going and always ends up going somewhere slightly different with each performance.โ€

Written and performed entirely by ELLiSยทD himself (aka Ellis Dickson) at Hackney Road studios with Shuta Shinoda (Hot Chip, Jenny Beth), โ€˜Driftingโ€™ offers the closing track of ELLiSยทDโ€™s upcoming Spill EP, a seven song jetstream of rocket-fuelled, goth-tinged glam-punk, infested with 21st century paranoia:

โ€œThe Spill EP is a not so subtle expression of conflict between personality and characterโ€, Ellis explains, โ€œAn uneasy alliance of nervous apprehension and joyful abandon. Throwing myself dramatically onto the funeral pyre one moment, only to get up and frantically twist my limbs about the next.โ€

Teasing the record with a clutch of singles in 2024, ELLiSยทD second EP already comes backed with praise from BBC Radio 6Music (New Music Fix, Tom Robinson, Emily Pilbeam), Radio X (John Kennedy), So Young Magazine, NME, Far Out, Hard of Hearing and Rodeo. He launches the EP in London, with a special in-store performance at Camberwellโ€™s Dash The Henge on 21st March.

We Are All Fossils – Rapture

Since debut album โ€˜The Optimistโ€™ (2018) and sophomore offering โ€˜Songs For Strangersโ€™ (2019), the Durban-born singer-songwriter has managed to carve out a distinctive sound, blending contemporary folk elements with an ambient feel. He continues to pour his heart out with this latest single, showcasing how heartfelt songwriting has become a part of his M.O..

‘Rapture’ marks another evolution in Deistโ€™s artistry, emerging from a period of deep reflection during his time spent in the Lake District, where the dramatic natural landscape became both a muse and a metaphor.

    About We Are All Fossils

We Are All Fossils is the musical project lead by South African-born singer-songwriter Deist Oelofse, originally from Durban. Blending folk, ambient sounds, and deeply personal storytelling, his music emerges from the quiet spaces between time, nature, and self-reflection. Inspired by landscapes as diverse as the shores of South Africa and the rolling hills of the Lake District, We Are All Fossils crafts songs that explore lifeโ€™s most personal moments: the delicate tension between stillness and change, the weight of memory, and the quiet resilience of the natural world.

With two previous records already released – debut album โ€˜The Optimistโ€™ (2018) and sophomore โ€˜Songs For Strangersโ€™ (2019) – We Are All Fossils continuously creates a sound that is both intimate and expansive, layering acoustic guitars, atmospheric textures, and a voice that carries the weight of everything it has witnessed. His evocative lyrics often reflect on the enduring strength of nature and the human spirit, offering listeners a cinematic, reflective experience.

Whether performing solo or with his band, We Are All Fossilsโ€™ live presence has earned praise for its emotional depth and raw honesty. Recently, the band had the honor of performing at the legendary Maida Vale Studios for BBC, a milestone that has further solidified their reputation as a rising force in the music scene.

As We Are All Fossils continues to evolve, the journey feels like it is just beginning. With a highly anticipated album on the horizon, the growing buzz around his music and live performances points to a bright future ahead. This is an artist you will want to follow closely.

The bandโ€™s previous four singles have been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, building excitement for the upcoming release.

The song was written and produced by Sean Danielsen, engineered by Brian Scheffer, mixed and mastered by Eddie Wohl.

Milyssa Rose – Set the World on Fire

Milyssa Rose has released her new video for the track titled ‘Set the World On Fire’ from her latest album ‘The Collection 2’ out now. Set the message to the flame and deliver it with a weathered soul and vocal style meant for the masses, Milyssa claims an industrial tinged stake in the new world order with enough flame to ignite and the right amount of anarchistic flavor to keep it on the edge.

About Milyssa Rose & ‘The Collection 2’

“The Collection 2,” featuring C-WIZ, highlights the diverse musical influences that shape Milyssa Rose’s artistry. Earlier this year, she released remastered versions of two beloved tracks: “Lost at the Seams,” featuring C-WIZ and produced by Papi Hey, and “Olly,” produced by Daniel Finsley.

The latest single from The Collection 2 is an industrial rock style track titled “Set the World on Fire,โ€ about the downfall of society. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Keith Kosmopolis of Bank Hard Beats.

This project also includes “The No Chorus Opera,” “Without Cause,” and “Take Your Last Breath.” Bank Hard Beats managed the mixing and mastering for the entire project.

Additionally, the visual for “Set the World on Fire” will premiere a surprise visual for “Take Your Last Breath,” which will debut on January 31, 2025. Both visuals were edited by Humannoire.

An Exclusive Interview with Michelle Ryder, Sean McKenna & Mark Horton About The Indie Music Scene & More

From Halifax, Nova Scotia, to the world. Not all of the best laid plans from the Indie Music scene come from L.A. or NYC. Meet Michelle Ryder, Sean Mckenna, and Mark Horton. Three people outside of the box that bring a little bit of light to that scene with their multiple projects as well as their own music in their own rights.

Being musicians and trying to get your music heard is one thing, but advancing independent music as a whole and taking the rest of those that deserve it with you is another thing all together. That is what more and more people need to do. The indie music scene is a cooperative. A collective. A community. And that cooperative is culminating into the podcast ‘Barstools and Bandtalk/Rimshots with Sean‘. Combine that with the music that the three of them record and release and you have a recipe for the future.

In this interview, which is more like a deep conversation, we talk with these three about that music industry and where its going and, hopefully, where it’s headed as well as their personal ties and careers in that industry.

    About Michelle Ryder

Michelle has been a featured singer with the Stadecona Band, as well as a singer with the Sounds of Motown. The last year has seen her gain very solid fan bases in the US, Canada and overseas. Her goal has not been fame, but solid songwriting. Michelle can be seen at a number of festivals this summer

    About Sean McKenna

Sean has been part of the music business his entire life and the story is all over the map, like his career. Straight out of out high school in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, he went on the road, touring Canada and opening for some of the whoโ€™s who of Canadian music. In 1990, he founded a band that would become โ€œJack Butlerโ€, initially a cover band that ended up signing a record deal.

With the emergence of grunge music, and in an effort to take advantage of what was happening in Toronto, the band relocated. But they eventually broke up in 1995. Out of sheer frustration, Sean sold all his equipment, and got out of the business. In 2000, he moved back to Halifax Nova Scotia, and a friend quickly asked him to join a band. With no gear, he got some and from 2000, until 2017, played with various people. He joined the Frequency 2017, and proceeded to play over 120 shows a year.

In 2020, due to the pandemic, a radio show he was hosting couldnโ€™t operate, so in March he decided to start interviewing musician friends. All local nature, until Canadian legend Darby Mills came on what would eventually become โ€œBarstools and Bandtalk/Rimshots with Seanโ€. The launch began. Sean would go on to interview over 650 people thus far, and one of those interviews introduced him to Halifax singer Michelle Ryder. Eventually, โ€œMichelle Ryder and Side Hustleโ€ was born, and would see Michelle have over 2.5 million social media/views and streaming interactions on her music. 2025 will see the band continue the trajectory and Sean is branching out into other projects.

    The Alarm – Chimera

โ€œIโ€™m a very lucky man to be alive,โ€ says The Alarm’s lead singer Mike Peters, reflecting on his past 30 years living with cancer. Never one to let mortality stare him down, the resilient fighter is not only currently in the fight of his life (his leukemia had transformed into a deadly and extremely rare combination of leukemia and lymphoma known as โ€œRichterโ€™s Syndromeโ€), but he also wrote and recorded a new album ‘Transformation’, dropping Summer 2025 via Twenty First Century Recordings / Virgin Music Group, an extraordinary record made under extraordinary circumstances.

First single โ€œChimeraโ€ (pronounced kahy-meer-uh) is released as a symbolic rebirth for Mike as it is also the exact day that he receives a revolutionary new and hopefully lifesaving transplant known as CAR-T Therapy. Symbolically embracing the Greek mythos of a chimera that embodies multiple creaturesโ€™ characteristics, the CAR-T process involves harvesting and re-engineering his own harvested blood lymphocytes and re-introducing them into his system with hopes that it will destroy the Richterโ€™s syndrome cancer cells.

โ€œWhen I have CAR-T therapy I will literally become chimeric,โ€ states Mike. โ€œThere will be two types of blood flowing inside of me. Two individual types of DNA in fact, and Iโ€™ve not been able to stop thinking about this ever since the process was explained to me by the doctors. The idea of an alter ego named CAR-T kept entering my thoughts while I was writing lyrics and singing on the microphone, and eventually this new persona forced its way onto the record.โ€

The accompanying video for โ€œChimeraโ€ visually represents this duality with the doubling images of Mike. โ€œI worked on the film concept with my cameraman Andy Labrow and also Alex Colettti of MTV Unplugged fame,โ€ he explains about the startling imagery. โ€œI wanted it to reflect the duality of the situation I find myself plunged into. There are two of me existing side by side, externally albeit with separate DNA markers. I really donโ€™t know which side of me will come out on top post transplant but I do somehow hope to get to a new life because of it. Two DNA and Car-T gives me a fighting chance.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s amazing what a costume change can do to bring out your real personality,โ€ he laughs. โ€œHopefully people will be able to see more of the real Mike Peters when they get to experience Transformation in full.โ€

In between chemotherapy sessions for this latest fight during the eight-month period of โ€˜extreme livingโ€™, Mike Peters wrote and recorded the 15 brand new Alarm songs that became the catalyst for Transformation, capturing the emotional and mental challenges of trying to stay alive as a human being, a father and a husband whilst being plunged into the abyss of uncertainty and having to prepare to face new life therapy or certain death.โ€ Anthemic with soaring choruses and melodies that carry his trademarked message of love, hope and strength while facing adversity, itโ€™s his resiliency that shines through.

โ€œIโ€™m glad I have been gifted enough life to finish the new record,โ€ he says. โ€œNothing was planned up front and Itโ€™s all been touch and go not knowing how far I could take things in between all the chemo sessions.โ€

Produced by longtime Alarm collaborator George Williams, Transformation began as a simple musical exchange between father and son, with Mikeโ€™s youngest – Evan ap Michael (aged 17), backing him on drums while some of the initial song ideas took place at Rock Hard Studios in Blackpool, UK. At first only intended to lay down a future marker for post-transplant recording, Mikeโ€™s extreme living mindset soon gave way to further music creations that demanded recording and capturing while emotions were running high.

Described by Bono of U2 as โ€œthe second greatest rock and roll band in the world,โ€ Mike Peters has been the driving force behind The Alarm for over forty creative years of new music making and dedication to presenting the bandโ€™s classic songs in ways both imaginative and inventive.

    Another Day – Doghouse Roses

From Londonโ€™s vibrant underground music scene, Another Day emerge from the swell with a visceral sound that isnโ€™t just heard, itโ€™s felt. Whether itโ€™s backflips on stage or poetry readings from friends like Astille Doherty (son of Peter), their live shows weave together a tapestry of sound, art, and passion. Already theyโ€™ve stamped their mark, playing sold out shows at Londonโ€™s Bush Hall, Camden Assembly and Sebright Arms, a residency at Carl Barรขtโ€™s music venue in Margate, performing secret sets at Liverpoolโ€™s Cavern โ€“ and even being featured in UK Vogue.

The band effortlessly channel the timeless energy of guitar-driven music into a sea of melodic hooks and dynamic transitions. Louis explains โ€œThere can be a lot of excitement and aggression in guitar music and weโ€™re working on containing that energy by focusing on the control of our performances and adding a tonal depth and texture to it.โ€

Recognizing it was holding him back, Louis left school in 2020 and locked himself away in the Kent countryside with his brother and cousin and began writing. Constantly. The prolific output of songs led to taking their music to London, instantly finding connection with those that came to watch, discovering the sheer joy of playing live, new friends, and a like-minded community.

Crowds get it and are building all the time. Whatโ€™s gone from an idea of writing songs to selling out Camden Assembly now sees them collaborating with other young talent from the cityโ€™s grass roots arts scene and recording in Liverpool. It seems remarkable to the band, and Louis comments โ€œWeโ€™ve been spending a lot of time in Liverpool working with a producer. Thereโ€™s magic up there and he has been instrumental in developing our sound through our upcoming debut EP, encouraging us to trust the creative process.โ€

When pushed on whatโ€™s next, the conversation always comes back to the songs. โ€œThe notion that if someone has something to give then there is always someone to receive, has taught us not to be swayed by any external expectations,โ€ says Louis. โ€œWeโ€™re doing a disservice to the listener if we donโ€™t give away our true selves. We set no rules when writing so as to give ourselves the highest chance of being receptive to what the universe has to offer.โ€
