Actor, Writer, Producer and Philanthropist Rickey Castleberry, known for his role as Lewis on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, Disney’s Sonny with a Chance and his latest role in Lifetime Movie Network’s film Social Nightmare, is working to bring his first comedy feature-film he created and co-wrote to theatre screens. SWAG is a coming of age comedy that follows four college sophomores, James, Cameron, Miles and Hector, who find themselves in a young adult crises.
Having experienced being bullied, Castleberry was moved by creating such a film that would not only make people laugh, but could also relate to the ridicule these characters face trying to fit in. SWAG is a movement that Castleberry wants supporters to be apart of from its inception because everyone has a “swag story.” Castleberry is also excited to offer a $1,200 scholarship to help with Spring 2015 College tuition to the winner of the “my SWAG story” contest; this is made possible by the sponsors Blinc by Bambi Lynn and Matthew Pickard. http://www.theswagmovie.com/#!anti-bullying-scholarship/c1ebq
Castleberry has gained support from some of his young, Hollywood friends, Erin Sanders (Big Time Rush), Rachel Di Pillo (Mad Men), Fred Scarf (CNN Hero), and Amy Castle (What’s Amy Eating/YouTube Star). Supporters can purchase SWAG’s Anti-Bullying campaign shirt, and for every shirt purchase, one dollar will be donated to charity (The Farley Project), to help them continue their work in schools promoting choosing kindness versus bullying.
By getting supporters to create a my SWAG story, Rickey is building his audience all while giving supporters the opportunity to contribute to help make SWAG the movie happen by crowd funding (Indiegogo). Upon the completion of the crowd funding campaign, SWAG The Movie is projected to begin production late spring of 2015.
