Sam Scherdel has today premiered his new video for the track titled ‘Balloon’. Feeling definitively auspicious in it’s roots topped by an absolutely brilliant horn section that cascades the already wall of sound. This is a brilliant piece of declarative music.
To say this song is strong would be an understatement. It’s memorable as you get that first listen. A song for the ages while being timeless. What music was meant to be.
About ‘Balloon’
Sam Scherdel returns with his biggest, boldest, and most anthemic single to date. Over the past twelve months he has released a string of successful singles since launching in March 2022, 12 later he releases “Balloon”. Recorded between Doncaster and Nashville Balloon delivers a truly haunting understory lyrically, sung to a countering seismic uplifting Born to Run esque back drop.
His strongest single to date is sure to help make sure 2023 is his biggest year yet. Having began selling out shows across Yorkshire he returns to his native Sheffield to headline the Leadmill March 18th prior to embarking on a string of festival dates across the summer.
About Sam Scherdel
Born in South Yorkshire and Based in Sheffield. Hook laden, energetic and soulful songwriter Sam Scherdel has been penning music since his early teens. With his gravelly voice contributing to his unique blueprint; his music is never too far strayed from the ‘Britpop’ resonances that were the background of his youth.
Having began releasing his own music in 2022 following a partnership working with Aidan Thomspon (Steelworks Studios/Alvarez Kings) he proceeded to release 3 new singles which have caused a stir within the industry. He now returns with a live show stronger than ever featuring a full band. Recent live performances bagged some coveted festival slots across the UK sharing bills with Anne Marie, Stereophonics and Jake Bugg. Critical acclaim from BBC Introducing has followed, as well as label interest on the project.
Future singles are due to land in February and April, With an album of material in production and due for completion in Spring 2023. He is looking to a very bright future.
