Brothers Rome and Red, the dynamic duo behind The Keymakers, are set to take the music world by storm with their unique blend of soulful electronic sounds. Since forming The Keymakers in 2017, the pair has captivated audiences with their innovative approach to music, fusing their diverse influences and experiences into a distinctive, genre-defying sound.
Despite growing up close and sharing a passion for music, Rome and Red charted separate paths before coming together as The Keymakers. Rome honed his skills playing saxophone in jazz bands and singing R&B, while Red gained experience DJing college parties and shows. This rich, varied background is evident in their live performances, which seamlessly integrate DJing, live instrumentation, sampling, drumming, and vocals to create unforgettable experiences for their fans.
Since their formation, The Keymakers have made significant waves in the music industry. Their soulful electronic music has resonated with listeners worldwide, amassing over 2.5 million plays on streaming platforms such as Spotify. Their growing popularity is further evidenced by their impressive list of achievements, including over 3.8 million song streams, 100,000 song saves, and 6,000 followers. The band has been featured on 17 Spotify Editorial playlists across the U.S., Canada, Spain, Denmark, and The Netherlands, including prominent placements on ‘Time to Dance’ and ‘New Music Friday’. Their career high of 60,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and notable performances in cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston highlight their expanding influence.
After relocating to Los Angeles in late 2020, The Keymakers are gearing up for a major breakthrough. Their highly anticipated new single, “Separate,” is set to drop on September 6. The track, a blend of Electronic, Chill House, and Pop, was crafted in their Los Angeles home studio. The song features a natural piano sound, electric guitar, hardware, and virtual synths, reflecting their commitment to blending the physical with the digital while maintaining the song’s tender essence.
“Separate” is deeply personal, born from Red’s experience in a long-distance relationship. The track explores the bittersweet emotions of having a loved one far away, turning the concept of separation into a skill that can be learned and taught.
The Keymakers’ impact extends beyond streaming success. They have performed at prestigious venues across multiple cities and recently featured on Sirius XM’s Diplo’s Revolution with a Guest House Mix on August 14, 2024.
As they continue to push boundaries and evolve their sound, The Keymakers remain committed to creating music that resonates on both an emotional and physical level. With their upcoming releases and relentless dedication to their craft, the duo is poised to make an even bigger splash in the music industry.
