Sam Taylor-Johnson releases ‘Second Floor’, a limited edition box set of 10 prints from her photographic series documenting Mademoiselle Chanel’s private apartment at 31 Rue Cambon, Paris. The limited edition box set will be published exclusively by Counter Editions and will be released on Friday 12th September 2014.
Taylor-Johnson’s photographs document both the architectural exterior of the apartment and intimate details of the untouched living space of Mademoiselle Chanel. “Shooting at Coco Chanel’s apartment was an unexpectedly absorbing experience” said Taylor-Johnson. “The essence of Chanel is firmly rooted there in all of her possessions, and I truly believe that her spirit and soul still inhabit the second floor.”
Working closely with Counter Editions, Taylor-Johnson has selected 10 images from the larger series of work. The set of photographs will come in a luxurious clothbound handmade box with a signed certificate, and will be available in a strictly limited edition of 50.
The box set is being launched to coincide with an exhibition of the photographs at Saatchi Gallery from 12th to 22nd September and a book of the photographs, published by 7L.
