The alternative-indie artist ION returns with his brand-new single ‘iamvessel’, as the second single from ION’s highly-anticipated forthcoming EP exploring themes of insanity and spiritual preservation.
The track is a soothing remedy, with ION’s lulling performance inspired by the enchanting singing of Irish folk musician Mary O’Hara. The lush and alluring soundscape of ‘iamvessel’ merges dreamy atmospherics with a crooning vocal delivery. Creating an immersive and serene listening experience that further demonstrates the evolving artist’s innate capacity to express his abstract visions.
Under the creative pseudonym ION, he continues to make a name for himself as a rising star, propelled by his genre-bending ingenuity, high production value, and rallying compositions.
On the release, ION says, “My intention with ‘iamvessel’ was to encapsulate the intoxicating feeling of escapism, portraying the experience of running away to ‘our own little sanctuary’ as a means of coping with the circumstances of the world that we find ourselves in. My interpretation of this concept paints a picture of hypnotic reality created by the figment of our imagination. Using ambient synthesis combined with lullabying delivery to build this whimsical depiction of the dreamlike state that offers us escape from the real world.”
The accompanying music video, which will follow shortly after the release of the song, examines a few of the reasons behind this need for escapism, offering us an abstract view of how the economic systems throughout the world impact people’s spiritual well-being. With a visual style influenced by the first 3D visuals of beloved video games from the 1990s, such as “The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time,” it makes use of the chance to emphasize the significance of escape in human civilization.
The London-based music artist fervently embraces that the Kosovan highlands were his home for a significant portion of his childhood, and the unspoiled landscape there contributed to the development of his abstract style of thinking and artistic expression. His connection to nature, which he is proud of and deeply honors via both his music and way of life, is the source of his afflatus. Influential musicians he looks up to these days are MARY O’HARA and HOMESHAKE.
