Razor Braids and Katie Von Schleicher have today released their new video for the collaborative single titled ’42’.

’42’ is originally from Razor Braids’ 2021 album ‘I Could Cry Right Now If You Wanted Me To’. While the differences may seem subtle they really aren’t. There is a different vibe and energy that lends to the live renditions as well as slightly different guitar lines and more of a pain and emotional release with this version.

The song is one of my favorite Razor Braid tracks. It captures a few moments in my life that led to both lessons learned and love lost. To hear an almost ‘reprise’ version means a lot to me, personally. This is clearly an anthem for the broken hearted. A closing of the book after that last chapter, waiting for that new chapter to be written. A song that feels born more than written with lyrics lived. This is a soundtrack for life.

“In re-approaching “42,” we were looking to capture the sound of the band as they’d developed it live over time since their earliest recordings. This song has become a set favorite and grown with the band. There’s a really full dynamic range across the performance and it also beautifully displays Hollye, Jilly and Janie’s voices intertwining.”
Katie Von Schleicher

“42 is about taking every ounce of courage I had to walk away from a situation when everything in my body was telling me to give up. At its core, it’s really a song about learning what is love and what is not Abuse isn’t love even if someone is saying all the right things. Abuse is just abuse. It was a relationship that made me feel like everything would be terrible forever and that I would never feel good again. But there was this moment, or a collection of moments, where I realized that I wasn’t in a real partnership, I was alone and it wasn’t going to get better and it was up to me to find the strength to leave.”
