Introducing Aubrey Logan – diverse, distinct and dangerously sassy, Aubrey steps onto UK shores with the refreshingly unique sound of her debut single ‘Pistol’ released on 9 June – a track which rubber stamps an indelible vintage mark on the industry from this outstanding world class talent. Critically acclaimed for her live appearances around the world including collaborations with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Aubrey now steps into the limelight as a solo artist, with a string of singles through 2017 and her debut album ‘Impossible’ planned for the Autumn.

Striking a vibe that’s deliciously reminiscent of the superspy soundtracks of the ‘60s (think “Bond, James Bond”), ‘Pistol’ targets Logan’s ‘sassy-chick’ side, delivered with her rich powerful vocals and a cheeky glint in her chocolate brown eyes. Co-written by Logan and Pam Sheyne, who is know for writing the Christina Aguilera hit ‘Genie in a Bottle’, ‘Pistol’ was inspired by the fun that’s found in a great relationship, business or personal, and how we should shoot straight from the hip to achieve it.

Transporting us back to the glamour era of Bond and Dusty Springfield, the ‘Pistol’ video fuses the simplicity of the past with the attitude of the present….Aubrey’s voice may be timeless, but she’s a woman of our time and she’s flexing her musical muscle to make sure we know it. Black clad with a splash of provocative scarlett, the video stars the the Solo Sisters who are Sarah Reich and Melinda Sullivan. Melinda and Sarah have been dancing together since they were children and now Melinda is a veteran on the US show So You Think You Can Dance (being the first tapper to break the sound barrier of the show) and had a dance role in LaLa Land; whilst Sarah is a pioneering force in the world of tap-dance, smashing stereotypes as she brings tap to the world of hip-hop, funk RnB and pop. Tapping toe-to-toe with Aubrey, the trio turn an awesome track into a work of visual artistry.

‘Pistol’ was recorded in Pasadena, CA, at the studio of producer Dale Becker, with an ensemble of musicians to complement Logan’s vocal and instrumental styling. Featured are Troy Welstad on keyboards, Steven Solomon on guitar, Guillermo Guzman on bass, and Dave Johnstone on drums. “To create a 007 vintage sound, and even incorporate some of that ‘60s psychedelia, Dale and I layered the vocal and instrumental tracks, enabling me to do my own back-ups and add trombone harmonies,” says Logan. The remix on ‘Pistol’ for UK release was by Red Triangle and its principals Rick Parkhouse and George Tizzard. Among the credits of Red Triangle are Cheryl, Charlie Puth and Union J.

With a talent as diverse and inspiring as Logan’s, there’s nothing that compares on the market. So tight as Aubrey Logan fires the starting pistol and takes you on the musical journey of your life – enjoy!

The single ‘Pistol’ was released on Knight Music Inc via Right Track/Universal on June 9th.
