Euan Blackman has today released his new EP titled ‘Rent Free on My Brain’. Euan has a way about his music that makes it memorable. Think of those classic songwriters from the 60’s and 70’s that become shadowed by their music as time goes by, and even become ‘that one artist who did (insert song here).

There is a timelessness about Euan’s music on ‘Rent Free on My Brain’ that transcends that notoriety. Cascading and atmospheric instrumentation set up the gorgeous hooks and give a flow to the EP that makes you wish it was an LP. I guess we’ll have to do with knowing that this is the beginning of a career and not the end.

About Euan Blackman & ‘Rent Free on My Brain’

“Alt folk for kind folk” singer-songwriter Euan Blackman has announced his second EP ‘Rent Free on My Brain’. Featuring tracks backed by Spotify UK and BBC Introducing, it follows his successful debut EP released 2023 ‘You Are the Rain’ which was supported by BBC Radio 6 Music, Wonderland and playlisted by Spotify UK in Lost In The Woods. Euan’s music has been praised by some of his heroes including acclaimed folk artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

On the EP, Euan says: “Rent Free on My Brain is an amalgamation of narrative driven songwriting, with my love of bedroom pop. The EP aims to combine both the song-craft of folk, with production elements of modern indie. The result is a collection of songs that feel my strongest and I’m super proud to finally share.”

Euan Blackman crafts introspective and evergreen songs for rainy road trips with wistful gazes. There is something of the past in his music, not retrospect, but memories we all share, tales of the human condition in soft focus. He is regularly enchanted by the magic that defines the work of Phoebe Bridgers and Claude Debussy. These influences that span ages and continents, come together behind his pastel blue bedroom door. Euan Blackman’s music is just starting out, but it feels like you’ve known him for some time.

Euan wrote, recorded, produced and mixed ‘Rent Free on My Brain’’ entirely in his Liverpool bedroom studio. The EP was mastered by Jim Spencer (Johnny Marr, New Order, The Charlatans) at Eve studios.
