Kings County have just dropped their new single titled ‘I Ran’ as of today. If you remember the original Flock of Seagulls version, forget what you remember. This is a total reconstruction of ‘I Ran’. Built on a solid foundation of gritty guitars and solid rhythm topped with a totally different take, but just as valid, set of vocals that tear the song down and rebuild it from the bottom up literally making it a new piece of music. To have a vision like that without accidentally straying back inside the box is a feat in and of itself but to pull such an iconic track into a new head-space is musicianship defined.
About Kings County
Kings County is Rob Dexter (Vocals, Bass), Steve Bell (Guitars, Vocals), Joe Lopez (Drums) and Bill Kania (Guitars, Vocals).
Dexter says, “We’ve always been fans of the 80’s new wave bands and their music really converts nicely to hard Rock. Whether the meaning of “I Ran” is someone running towards or away from something, Kings County’s version will have you banging your head while grabbing for a can of aquanet.”
Many established bands past and present have started out as a cover band and Kings County is no exception. Cutting their teeth with constant performances throughout the East Coast, they’ve built a strong grassroots following.
“I Ran” was produced by Grammy Award winning Producer/Engineer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) at legendary Pearl Sound Studios (Asking Alexandria, Eminem, Filter).
