Kinobe has today released their new track titled ‘Falling Star’ from his upcoming album ‘Over The Horizon’, dropping August 4th.

Reminiscent of a lush film score or a soundtrack for your future memories, Kinobe gives a brilliant take on what indie music should be with an open canvas for the listener with enough cinematic punch to let loose anyone’s imagination.

Beautifully crafted and elegantly delivered, ‘Falling Star’ is a reflection meant for the thinking person’s sonic repertoire.

About Kinobe & ‘Falling Star’

‘Falling Star’ is the first to be shared from their forthcoming album Over The Horizon, slated for release on the 4th of August. The single was aired by NPR and put on rotation early by Paris and Monaco-based station FG CHIC as well as their parent network Radio FG, which also aired their song ‘Slip Into Something More Comfortable’. Both the single and album were mastered by Frank Arkwright (Arcade Fire, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, Coldplay, to name a handful) at the renowned Abbey Road Studios.

With over 40 million streams on Spotify alone, Kinobe has previously earned support from tastemaker publications Mixmag, DJ Mag, Sputnik Music, and Hotpress Magazine and has been featured in Britain’s established digital broadsheets The Guardian and The Independent. Their music has aired on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 – The 6 Mix with Nemone as well as Dutch radio station NPO Radio 2. Notably, they have been featured numerous times in the CD collections and Youtube channel of the iconic Chill-music brand Café del Mar.

From the UK, based in Perth, Australia, Kinobe was formed in West London in 1998 by childhood friends Julius Waters and Mark “Blackie” Blackburn after Waters’ returned from Perth, Australia where he spent the greater part of his teens. With the same retro influences, from Soul to Funk, Blues, Jazz, and R&B, both multi-instrumentalists started composing together.

The band became the quintessential downtempo group with the release of their Engelbert Humperdinck-sampled single ‘Slip Into Something More Comfortable’, which became a Chillout staple and was licensed for innumerable compilations, soundtracks, and TV commercials. Despite various line-up changes over the years, founding member Julius Waters has continued to release Kinobe albums. 2023 sees them release their eighth studio album, Over The Horizon, written and recorded in a beach house in Western Australia.

Reminiscent of Air, Boozoo Bajou, and Bent, ‘Falling Star’ is a rich combination of crisp, strummed guitar and big, cinematic violins, that come together to form a sepia-toned soundtrack for a film of their own making, an accompanying music video. With soaring string lines, funky baselines, and sprinkled with stardust, it is classic Kinobe.
