- Come And Get Me The Black Skies 3:33
The Black Skies are a British rock/soul band who describe their sound as a mix of melancholy rock and soul with metal influences, skill-wise.
Formed during lockdown by two school buddies James Handley (voice & pizza) and Luke Falkingham (guitars & coffee), they soon amassed a body of work that caught the attention of British Indie label Bad Dog Records.
Taken under the wing of producers Paul Gorry and George Shilling, the duo released their debut single ‘Unchained’ on an unsuspecting world back in May 2022. It rocketed into the iTunes rock charts at number 3 and quickly amassed over 200K views on YouTube.
Sophomore single ‘Save My Soul’ followed in July and the band caught the attention of radio presenter Jericho Keys of BBC Introducing in York & North Yorkshire, who added the band to one of his intimate, acoustic showcase gigs in York.
Now bolstered to a five-piece, the band entered the studio with producers Paul Gorry and George Shilling (Oasis/Primal Scream/Blur) to channel themes of mental health, the political landscape and small-town angst into their contemporary sound that showcases stunning vocals and mature songwriting.
With a bad ass promo video shot in the industrial wastelands of the North, the resulting single ‘Come And Get Me’ offers hope and is a call to arms in these dark times…some say it could be the soundtrack for a revolution.
The Black Skies also celebrate the single release with their first full show as a five-piece band at The Crescent in York on Thursday 1st December 2022. Tickets available HERE now
