Seattle-based band Close Encounter is chill music for aliens. They use an effectual yet melodic blend of psychedelic, guitar-heavy riffs, slow tempo beats, and introspective vocal mood to depict the dawn of a new age. Close Encounter consists of Bill Darksoft (Guitar/Vocals), Bobby Sydney (Guitar/Vocals), and Cameron Lambert (Drums). Close Encounter’s releases include First Light (2017) and Lost Time (2018) via Look Up Records. Their self-produced recordings have received airplay on KEXP, DKFM, and other independent radio, and they’ve played many Seattle venues including Neumos, Chop Suey, The Sunset, among others.

With a guitar and modest pedal board, Bobby Sydney (Goldd) mimics the drone of skidoos and airplanes in harmony, laying a lush foundation. His tenor vocals add to a soundscape reminiscent of Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, or contemporaries like DIIV and Connan Mockasin. Before moving to Seattle, Bobby was previously of Fort Worth Texas shoegazers Skeleton Coast. Bill Darksoft’s (Banadu) lead guitar lines skirt funk, peppered with a love for the jangly chorus sound and pop anthems from 80s heroes like Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, or contemporaries like Future Islands and Black Marble. Bill has previously played with Hibou, Maiah Manser, and Fit For Hounds. He has engineered for Snuff Redux, Dead Bars, Red Ribbon, and other bands in Seattle.
