Hailing from Philadelphia Pennsylvania the newly formed rock trio 1FM is setting out to make musical history with their own blend of succulent alternative rock.
The group consists of three rock veterans -Tim Laigaie – vocals, Nick Passio – vocals, guitar, & bass and Joe Altomari on drums. 1FM is aspiring to make some noise in the independent music world and it won’t be long until that happens. They are a band formed on the premise of enjoying every second of what it means to make music. The band’s credo is simple: There are no rules. There are no boundaries. And, most of all, it had better be a blast while it’s being done.
Each band member has already embarked on quite a musical journey prior to the forming of 1FM. Formally of the highly successful band Blue Collar, which eventually evolved into Victory in Numbers, Passio and Altomari are seasoned musicians and certainly not new comers to the music business. Tim Laigaie enjoyed a notable solo career boasting several very successful CD releases. Now 1FM find themselves, as a group, writing some extremely interesting and high impact music.
The debut EP from the band “Burning Bridges” is earmarked for release on May 19th of this year with the single “Bury me’ coming out 2 weeks prior to the EP release. “The CD was kind of an accident” stated Laigaie, “We didn’t plan on writing anything together and kind of just did it one night for fun. It didn’t take us long to realize something really special was happening so we kept going.” Burning Bridges contains a good mix of material that is autobiographical and drawn from experiences and people around the group. Then there’s a whole other side that is simply an idea or story that the band tried to climb inside of.
When asked to place their music is a “Sounds Like” category, 1FM is extremely reluctant to do so believing their songs are one of a kind – and they are. Although they all seem to agree that there is a semblance to the style and sound of some of the greats such as Taking Back Sunday, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and the Foo Fighters.
When asked if they could maintain their artist integrity while achieving increased commercial success, the entire band wholeheartedly agreed: “At the end of the day the three of us are best friends and because of that we feel like no amount of success could change us as artists and people. We do a good job of trusting each other and keeping each other in line (especially when it comes to creativity). One of the best parts about this process for us is that we have the ability to just let the music happen. We found our stride in the beginning and never looked back. This partnership we have and the way we create together is really something special and we’re very excited to introduce ourselves to the world.”
Their debut record “Burning Bridges” was recorded at Drowning Fish Studio in Philadelphia and was co-produced by Jason Dunkerley, Tim Laigaie & Nick Passio and engineered and Mixed by Jason Dunkerley. Alan Douches will be mastering the album. The CD will be available on the band’s website in both digital and CD format. It will also be available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and most other digital download and streaming sites.
“We are so proud to share what we have constructed together” states Passio “this is what is inside of us. We hope everyone will see what we see. With some help from our other friends and family, we cannot wait to continue making and releasing music.”
