Dirty rhythm and blues from the depths of Alderney, based in London. Island born Robert J. Hunter combines his gruff and powerful voice with the wild thud of overdriven blues guitar.
His powerful debut album, ’Songs for the Weary’, received blues chart success and critical acclaim and the single release, ‘Demons’, reached number one in the UK iTunes Blues Chart.
‘Before the Dawn’ followed late 2015 showing that Robert had matured and developed as a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist.
His latest album, a solo release, demonstrates not only the versatility of Robert’s musical ability but also the diversity in his songwriting. ‘Where I’m From’, released December 2016 through the independent label, Spiritual Records.
In 2017 Robert was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) with his powerful ballad, ‘Preacher’ which was chosen from 16,000 entries.
Following his set, at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival 2017, The Robert J Hunter Band were chosen as the fifth and final act to compete in the UK Blues Challenge at Liverpool‘s legendary, Cavern Club.
Robert has previously supported acts including Wilko Johnson and The Animals and has played top venues around the country including Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and the Spiritual Bar in London. He is a regular performer at the London blues jams and clubs as well as performing in Europe and all around the UK circuit.
This is a road-worn, dirty blues band that’s been honed to super tight perfection by sheer hard work and volume of shows.
